MotivatedinVermont's Journal, 25 September 2011

Well - I wasn't perfect the past couple of days, but I'm back in the saddle. Went out for my husband's birthday a couple nights in a row. I ordered lots of protein-based dishes, but also had some wine, and a few cocktails. Ate some bread, and tasted some truly delightful potatoes.

Plan is to get right back to induction today. I know there are a few events coming up where I may give myself a diet holiday - doing the best I can to order something healthier than an old favorite like Fettuccine Alfredo. Anyway, one meal here or there won't kill me.

I am afraid to weigh myself - so I plan to weigh in a few days. I know in my heart that the important thing is to eat right 99% of the time. In the past a delicious meal like this would have been the end of all healthy eating. I promise this isn't going to be the case.

I want to lose weight and I want to feel good about myself. Wore an outfit last night that made me feel great. I want to keep making progress.

Hi Motivated, What an uplifting post. Sounds like you have the right mind set to do what you need to reach your goal. It's about the journey anyway and it sounds like you are enjoying yours. Way to go! Congrats on the loss too.

Thanks for the encouragement Annie, it helps. In prior attempts to lose weight, this would have pretty much been it, and I spiral off and put the few successful pounds I lost right back on. Last year when I lost the same thirty pounds for my wedding that I'm determined to get off again (and keep off this time) there were a few days here and there that I wasn't perfect too. AND i still got there. Sticking with it day after day helped me reach my goal. Hopefully by doing all this reflecting, and keeping track of what I am eating, I will make a change for the good. I want to be 'Fit for life' Learning to enjoy treats as the exception in my diet and not the rule. It's a long road and yes I'm enjoying the journey. Trying to make a permanent change.

Don't sweat the little stuff. Just because you are working on this project (diet and fitness) doesn't mean that it is all consuming or that you stop living your life. You should still celebrate with your loved ones every chance you get because you never know when it will be the last time. This weight loss thing is a marathon not a sprint, so it doesn't matter if you take a detour or two, as long as you cross that finish line with your happiness and sanity intact!
