Roddyprime's Journal, 27 February 2016

I have officially lost 185 lbs since beginning my weightloss journey. when I started this I though 250 would be my ideal weight and i am now at 225.6 and not ready to stop. it has been a long journey but definitely worth it. it's amazing what small changes can do when added together. I still spend time on my couch playing games and nerding out with a comic or anime. I still have the occasional few slices of pizza. yesterday I had ice cream. what I have realized is it's all about balance. as long as the majority of the week I eat well and get exercise it's ok to let go partially. I also learned that there is no "big event" that opens your eyes and sparks change. it takes you looking in the mirror and saying "I've had enough" and doing it for yourself because you are worth it. when I started this journey I said "I am doing this for my family". it was a lie. I was always doing it for myself but feared I was going to sound selfish. but it's ok to be selfish. it's ok to put yourself first. and the last thing I learned is that losing weight is almost entirely mental. yes, you have to exercise. what I mean is you have to get in the right mental state. one does not reach 410 lbs without some deeper issues. I was finally honest about my depression. I finally was honest that the poor eating habits of my obese parents started me off at a disadvantage. I had been obese since 5. I was, most importantly, honest that I hated being fat, that I hated looking in the mirror and seeing what I saw. all I'm saying is, if you set your mind to it, it can be done. good day and good luck.

Yep, little changes work. Unfortunately, as you get lower, you still need little changes, and the losses become littler changes as well, but it's all worth it. Don't ever go back, man. You're doing great.

Good job! I face that same issue about being honest with myself. It's a hard call. At 57 I finally decided to get honest and see it for what it really is. This is my journey and it has many bumps and potholes along the way.

Roddy you are a beast! wonderful entry the day! Congratulations on your success.I remember looking in the mirror and the scale and saying,"THIS IS ENOUGH!" I've never looked back. You are right, it all starts with YOU and YOU have to be selfish through this journey but, YOU are worth it! Thanks for the post.

I can't even imagine what strength it took to overcome habits and behaviors that had been ingrained in you since you were a very small child. You are incredible!

Ah, but Roddy, it is you encouraging us! So many people feel like giving up on a regular basis. But if you can do it, anyone without a medical issue can do it!
