Sandy701's Journal, 09 September 2011

You can tell the heat and humidity are on the way back, despite record low temps overnight. While it was low 70's when I began walking this AM, it was 79 when I finished. Lab gal went 1.6 miles, Collie guy went 2.45 miles, and I totaled 3.25 miles.

I adjusted my food diary for yesterday after I didn't eat all my football game snacks. I measured out what was left this AM and adjusted accordingly. I found myself aware of the fact that I wasn't truly hungry, so why was I possibly going to eat more of the snacks I had prepared? Yet, that's what's so very easy to do....just mindless eating because that's what I used to do for a game.....or social event, or celebration, or whatever. It's hard to break that habit, but I know it can be done.

I'll need to be aware of that temptation this weekend at a BBQ, as well. There will be lots of people there and more food than an army could devour. The usual scenario is that people go there, mingle and talk for awhile, munching on the "lighter" food items. Then, the main food comes out and from that point on, for HOURS, people are constantly eating and drinking. If you look really hard, you'll see some sensible people who eat a moderate portion and then are DONE, but they are in the minority. DH and I went to a similar event last fall (I was on Atkins, he wasn't) and I did really well. I need to stay in that zone again and, hopefully, it should be even easier this time around.

Still have to call the hosts to offer to bring something and get a better read on what foods might be available.

At this event, which is a welcome to new people at DH's work, there will be lots of people I haven't met before. I realized this AM that they will see me at this weight and assume this is "normal" for me. They won't know anything about the weight I've lost - which is fine by me. It's just an odd feeling to realize that these new people will only know the slimmer me, not the other one.
