Shrinking Sonya's Journal, 20 October 2009

Definitely a day of contemplation. In two days I turn 25. It's a little depressing to think about being this old and not having a LOT to show for it... but I started thinking about what God had blessed me with and thought it would be nice to list some on here.

25 Blessings at the Age of 25
1. My faith- I was raised with strong foundation and faith and it has helped me endure so much!
2. My health- I am working on improving it through weight loss, but I truly have had no major problems with my health.
3. My family- I LOVE THEM! My parents have been married for 34 years and going strong, my brother and sister are my best friends, my stepkids are so much fun.
4. My husband- I've only been his wife for 7 months but what a wonderful blessing he has been to me! He loves me so much and encourages me and cherishes me and tells me he loves me a million times a day.
5. The Mountains- I live in Great Smoky Mtns of NC. It's one of the most beautiful places in the world.
6. Home- we have a lovely house that needs tons of work but suits our needs just fine!
7. My car- a lot of people don't even have a dependable car. Mine's not brand new but it's dependable and it's nice.
8. My job- a LOT of people wish they could say they have one. I just happen to have a wonderful one!
9. Friends- they have sort of dwindled since I graduated college and everyone moved on and grew up, but the ones that matter are the ones that are still there :)
10. Curly hair- while I often moan and groan and complain about having curly hair, I hear people complain about how they wish they could have hair like mine so I decided I'm going to start loving it if it kills me.
11. A college degree- I worked for it, and am still paying for it, but it's mine.
12. A family with a sense of humor- we're all goofy and fun and it's wonderful. I don't know what I'd do without my parents and brother and sister who keep me laughing always!
13. Red fingernails- my sister took me to get my nails done for my birthday and they're hot.
14. Music- music is a huge part of who I am and how I was raised. From the time I was able to speak I was singing on stage at church with my family. My brother, sister, mom, and I travel and sing more often than not. It's in my veins...
15. Nieces and nephews- they're adorable and I love 'em.
16. Christmas- my favorite time of the year. Celebrates the birth of my Savior and means extra time with everyone I love. (and it's just around the corner!)
17. Sunshine
18. Hot dates- I love getting all dressed up to go out with my hubby for fun on the weekends :)
19. Peace- I know what real peace feels like.
20. Perseverence- I'm more stubborn than most. That can be horrible, but for me it usually means I succeed if I can put my mind to it.
21. Ice cold water.
22. A church family.
23. Strength. I didn't know I had it until I started losing weight by myself when my family stopped trying.
24. 40+ lbs gone forever.
25. Being in the 200-lbs for my birthday. I just know it!

I love the list and don't feel bad, everybody goes through the "I'm not were I thought I'd be by now" feeling, but it passes.
