My doctor diagnosed me with pcos/pcod last year. My weight loss and gain has been a roller coaster of a ride, dropping and gaining 20 lbs in a matter of a week or two without even trying.. It's can be extremely frustrating and takes a huge emotional and physical toll on my mental and my physical state

I'm not allowed to have any simple carbs, refined sugars, trans fats, caffeine, alcohol, or salt.. So like', I guess that means I'm suppose to starve .. Right? Haha .. Geez
I'm sick at the moment too and I'm feeling very defeated, because someone in my house is making pancakes.😑

Positive reinforcement 🤘🏼

I'm ready to take my life back.❤️💛💚💙💜

Simple carbs aren't good for any of us, but complex ones are pretty good and the longer you eat them, instead of the white flour/white sugar/processed stuff, the better they taste, I promise! I've been using a GI diet and focusing mostly on lean meats and lots of low carb vegetables, with my higher carbs being things like dried beans (which I love) or certain fruits. It really does work and you feel so much better so quickly you can't believe it. There are lots of us here in the same boat, and we'll all help as much as you want us to. Add some buddies who are doing the same thing. It does get easier!

That sounds good! I'll have to try the dried beans..I eat quite of bit of complex carbs but because of my disorder I CRAVE bad food because I have extremely high blood sugar, and because I rarely eat anything bad, when I do I binge on it 😒 I'm the healthiest eater though yet I still gain and lose weight rapidly. Most of it depends on water retention and when my cycle hits. I don't produce anywhere close to enough estrogen and I produce way too much testosterone so I've gone months-years without having a cycle.. I have a insulin resistance problem and my body has a very hard time converting glucose into energy. I cook everything in coconut oil and I only season my food with garlic pepper. I can't have coffee or anything ascetic because it effects my cyst on my overies but I'm addicted to coffee! Right now I'm on the insulate program but I'm taking 18 pills a day and it's very hard for me. My doctor wants me on birth control but it effects my mental state too much and my mood swings take a toll on my family and I gain too much weight.. If anyone has any advice on what type birth control works for them and doesn't cause weight gain I would greatly appreciate it 😌

I love dried beans and brown rice, both of which are complex carbs. I also eat beans on my salad, a lot, usually edamame or white beans or kidney beans, with some meat as well. Lots of protein, complex carbs, completely filling without being stuffed. You can also do things with low carb tortillas and beans and other veggies--I like mushrooms and mozzarella, or avocado and tomato and cheddar. Again, very satisfying, much more so than a sandwich would be. If you have problems with water retentions (I know that's common with your health issues) try adding some vinegar to your diet--make vinaigrette dressings or marinades--or sliced lemon to ice water, and drink EXTRA water. I know it sounds weird, but when you retain water you need to drink MORE water. My doctor taught me that, and it works!

I am following the Dr. Bernstein diet which is much like the Atkins diet, but all portions are measured. Most of the things you listed above are not allowed. So to perk up my meals I have been adding True Citrus products. Here is their website address: http://www.truelemon.com/ . In Canada I order from their Canadian distributor, Flammable Liquids: http://www.flammableliquids.ca/shop/default.asp?search=true+citrus . Their lemon pepper is my favourite for sprinkling on my dinners, and their pure citrus crystals are excellent in club soda. Don't accidentally order their 'ade" drinks, as they contain sugar. Hope this helps!
