That's good going. I tried the C25k program a couple of years ago, but as I was really getting into it my knee could take it. The worst part was that I actually did enjoy it. We did the running in the woods, bought new shoes, wore a knee support, but no luck. So I'm resorted to walking instead. Which of corse isn't a bad exercise either. Beats sitting on the sofa anytime 😉

You run faster than I cycle!

try walking uphill, it increases the intensity but isn't as severe on the knees, besides you have a cross trainer don't you? They are good if you have any joint problems as they are non weight bearing. Try some light reha exerises to help support the knee (depending on the injury) but light quadriceps work to help support the knee. Th the problem with constantley using leg supports is that the joint becomes used to it and doesn't want to work without it, dammed clever these muscles they will do anything to get out of hard work - sounds like you sitting on your sofa LOL

heidij 123 - remember running is the same as walking, just a bit faster that's all

Walking uphill...?? Uuum, I'm living in the Netherlands.... Also known as the flatlands!!?? But saying that, we've got some nice areas towards the beach, bit of woods and yes there are some trails which actually have a bit of incline. It's just been so bloody wet here for the last two weeks so it's so soggy walking there now. Haven't got a cross trainer no, and truth is I hate that contraption... Been at the hospital for checkup, haven't found out what is wrong with it, but I think it all has to do with tipping over on a scooter 100 years ago and I hit that knee badly, water under the kneecap etc. it never was the same after that. I know the use of a support isn't always the best thing to do, but if I don't if feels like the knee is 'sliding' if u get what I mean.

@heidij123 - maybe I do run faster than you cycle but I bet you can cycle further than I can run HA HA

@jim well, neither of us needs to go any further than the pub, do we? But by the time I've got there and chained my bike up, you'll have downed a pint already! Toril, I have dodgy knees too, especially the one I landed on when I fell off my first ever bicycle when I was 21. But cycling is very good for knees, and I know you have a lot of cycle tracks in NL. We were there in June, in the north, it was lovely! I hired an electric bike for the day. Cheating, but great fun!

I'm not to keen on biking. Or at least not around here, it such a boring landscape. Don't mind when away somewhere, as you get to see more than just walking about, but around here... Nah. I know, I'm weird....

@ToriJ definitely weird for someone living in the Netherlands! You are lucky to have good cycle paths at least. The ones round here are either non existent or so badly maintained....

Yup I know! The country is made for biking. Hubby finds it a bit frustrating as well... My first bike was a typical Dutch one with a weird handlebar. I thought I'd lost the ability to bike when I first got it. I think I had it for more than 18 years when my daughter claimed it (it's probably only used for less than 1/2 the time!) And then it got nicked just after.... That type was just so popular, and fact is even without gears it rode so well... I was a bit upset, although I'd at the time hadn't used it for years... Oh well, will it shock you to know that as a Norwegian I hate skiing as well?? 😄😄😄😄

WHAT!!!!!!! how can anybody not enjoy skiing, but there again I suppose if you grew up with it the novelty soon wears off

Probably the trauma of being dragged along every flipping Sunday as a young kid. Ski for miles, then my dad drilled a hole in the ice for some fishing, catch some small awful fish, I then had to eat the small awful fish and then ski endlessly back again... . Ok, it might not have been every Sunday, I probably didn't eat the fish, and the distance might not even have been that far... But I'm still traumatized... 😁

I've never fancied skiing, so never been. I don't like sliding around! More of an apres-ski person really...

Hahaha Heidij, so am I. In my fully kitted ski gear of course, never used for skiing.. (That's if I had it in the first place that is 😊)

must admit I do enjoy skiing, havnt been in years but I used to go every winter for a month, mainly in Bavaria (with the army)occasional in the Hartz mountains loved it. I suppose if I was forced into it I might not enjoy it. Never did the apres ski bit, I always had borrowed stuff, it was a case of mix and match, sitting drinking hot chocolate (which used to cost an arm and a leg) next to people wearing all the latest fashion, I must have looked like a right tramp but hey Bothered - no don't think so
