Big Boy Optimus's Journal, 12 September 2015

Yesterday's Fast Day went well and then LowCarbFemmeFit asked me what would happen if I just avoided having any food at all since I had no hunger the whole day and never consumed lunch and it was around 6pm and I was still planning to have supper.

Sounded like ideal conditions for another experiment so I abandoned having supper. My calorie intake yesterday was just 36 calories from 4 cups of coffee.

It's now almost 11am on Saturday and I have just had a cup of coffee and no food as yet. Not feeling hungry but will eat just now. I'm amazed at how my body has adapted to doing without food for a day! This has been a result from weeks of giving my body 600 calorie fast days three times a week. Gradual changes can work!

My official weight on Thursday morning was 114.5kg. I am happy to state that my unofficial weight this morning is 113.4kg :D I am hoping to break into the 112's at next week's official weigh-in on Thursday morning :D

36 Calories? the whole day? i dont know how you "faster's" do it... seriously!

Tanya49 I never would have been able to do it immediately after starting my weight loss journey. It takes time to push your boundary and hunger to be able to manage 36 calories. Let's look at how I managed it: Coffee is an excellent appetite suppressant so each cup I drink will help me from getting hunger pangs. Then consider that I am used to following the Intermittent Fasting rules where I only eat my 1st meal at midday so at midday I had a cup of coffee then went out for a meeting that took up 3 hours of my time. I had water during those 3 hours and then another cup of coffee. By 5pm I was planning my supper but then I pushed my boundary by having a cup of coffee, some water and went to bed. I just pushed myself by thinking I will eat supper by skipping lunch but when it came to supper time I chose coffee and water then went to sleep. It's amazing at how your body can adapt and achieve such things but it takes time and small changes over that time to get to such a point :) I'm happy to say that its now Monday after 2pm and I havn't eaten any food and on my 2nd cup of coffee for the day. I will try to get to supper and then see if I can manage another day without consuming food :)

T it really is more of a mental thing and I have to concur with the points made above. You need to start small and gain confidence. If 5:2 is too daunting you can try and push your first meal of the day to 12am. In other words have your dinner at about 7pm and have coffee (splash of milk, no sugar) and water...until you have your first food between 12 and 1. This will effectively give you a 16:8. There are so many variations of IF and they mostly have huge health benefits. Will power is a muscle like any other. The more you use it...the stronger it gets :) The body is extremely resilient and most of us, even the very active individuals just eat far too much. If you are tired of reducing calories and/or watching the carbs and want to lose effortlessly, then I.F. really is the way to go. It also works like a bomb if you have a special occasion you would like to lose a few kg for ;-)

Well done the two of you.

DenisePret23 you are doing well at 552 Calories. I've found that going slightly over your limit by 50 or so Calories won't hamper the goal of the fast day. I sometimes used to go up to 680 Calories on my 600 Calorie Fast Days but in time you will find that you end up planning food intake so well that you will be under your maximum limit :) Keep it up :)
