Thank you so much Debra I thought I was going to give up my only Mt dew I drink today but I got up and drank about half of it and decided I wanted to let it go for good. The craving and urge to get it to drink when I first wake up was there and I think it's just a habit as I have done it for years like that. Used to take a Mt dew to bed with me because I get dry mouth in the middle of the night. But I cut that out once I started drinking water now I take a water to put on the nightstand in case I need a drink. So today I only drank half of it and will cut it out completely by tomorrow. Since I am at about 200carbs a day with 65 being a Mt dew and I would like to get to 100-150 .I read online that strict keto is under 20 I think and the middle of it is under 100g and the high end of keto is 150g or less and that's where I want to be. I can do it. Once I get used to it I will be good as I eat alot of chicken and hamburger so I may eventually get to try a version of the carnivore diet but it will be a little bit because I want to see how I do with no pop and lower carbs than I was eating.

Yes Ma'am, baby steps! You are doing everything right Sara! Making a decision to cut something you enjoy because it's preventing you from reaching your goals is an exercise in self-discipline. It's not easy and I applaud you for all of your efforts!

Getting rid of pure liquid sugar is incredible! I am a sugar addict and the only true relief from it, for me, and many others, is abstinence. I tried every single variation of moderation over the last decades and nothing worked. Now, because I am off sugar and flour, for the first time, I don't crave it, ever. I sat at a table with people eating breads and ordering desserts and it literally has no effect on me. I could care less. The freeing feeling is indescribable if you have not experienced it for yourself. being off sugar and flour allows you to eat protein and fat freely and feel satiated. sure I eat nature's carbs, some peas/beans/fruits... but I don't go to them for their sugar. finally after 50 years my health matters more than my desire for the fix. you can do this and find real joy on the path.

I drink a gallon of water a day . I weigh every morning. I still manage to lose .5 to 1 lb per day. Are you eating foods that cause inflammation?

I like to weigh myself and watch how quickly it can come off. Proves the body is constantly trying to find balance day by day..

Saran, you could buy yourself some ketone pee sticks - not expensive. You just pee on it and it will tell you if you are producing ketones. It's a good incentive to lower your carbs - to get the pee stick to go from pink to dark purple. That way you can tell if you are in ketosis and burning up the fat.
