Debbie Cousins's Journal, 22 July 2023

Yesterday’s results: had 1,968 Calories, over 40 grams of Fiber, over 100 grams of Protein, 12 cups of water, 4 cans of Diet Coke. I only walked 5 miles, and I didn’t do ANY of my PT exercises! Not counting the few days I’ve missed, I have completed three sets of 10 reps of 18 different exercises, ranging from two to nine minutes in length, to complete 66 days of exercising! I think I’m going to take it easy on them for the next five days until surgery. If the muscles are gonna get strengthened, they should be by now! I have a boatload of things to do! Have to put together a heavy-duty storage shelf so we can move about a 6’ square area of tools and misc from my husbands office to make room for my Rollator to be able to get through for walking after surgery. Have to do the same area of stuff from my old office for the same reason. Want to thoroughly vacuum the whole house, clean the bathroom, begin to pack my hospital bag, do all the laundry, and a host of other things - og yeah, read the Dishwasher manual and fill out registration card, do same for grand-daughter’s new mattress. Have to move a very heavy loveseat over to get Walker through, also. I REALLY want to build back up my walking distance after surgery, and the more places I can access to walk, the less boring it will be. OK, not getting ANY of it done while I’m sitting here typing!

Debbie take it easy. We can make all the plans we want for our lives, but what will be will be( que sera sera)! I had spinal surgery exactly 1 year ago and was in a wheelchair, to rollater, to cane! I just started walking on my own and exercising. I finally have a clean house. I finally got some things done from “before “ that surgery! It’s gonna take some time to heal. So, take your time and let it tell if it’s on your side, or not. Relax

Vision boards let you visualize your success. By regularly looking at your vision board, you immerse yourself in a visual representation of what you want or hope to achieve. This helps create a positive and powerful image in your mind, making it easier to believe in your ability to achieve your goals. 😁

thinking of you and praying for you 🙏 to have a speedy recovery and that way you can get back to doing your walking and things you want. But take it easy and don't over do it. That's what I did back in 2018 I had knee surgery for a torn meniscus because I got to where I couldn't even brush my teeth without leaning on the sink it hurt so bad. once I had surgery the day I came straight from the recovery room to getting released from the hospital and went home and had to walk up 18 stairs to get to my apartment it didn't hurt me until I got to the top of them and then I took it easy for 2weeks then I was able to walk a little bit better. But somewhere from the time I came home to 2020 I retore my meniscus and it's really gotten me down again and I gotta loose 20more pounds before the surgeon will do surgery on it . Good luck and take it easy....

YOH there is no reason Debbie shouldn't have the best of recoveries. She has always had a vision board in her mind. To lose weight, exercise, do pre surgery exercises and preparing her home for accessibility and recovery. Even eating more protein!! My personal experience is so much of our recovery when facing health challenges is not go to the dark places but see the place in our minds that are full of sunshine. I also think she is realistic enough to know it will take time.

It’s like you are nesting! That’s good to prepare ahead of surgery!

Honee I wasn’t saying she wouldn’t have a great recovery. I 100% expect she will. This surgery will be transformative for her mobility and health!!!! She’s totally got this!

I wasn't suggesting you thought that at all. You are one of her strongest supporters !!

It was a statement I knew you would agree with not suggesting you thought otherwise. 😁

Sounds like a good plan Debbie. After all your hard work, your recovery should go smoothly.
