HARLOWJAMESON's Journal, 28 June 2015

Today I am TOTALLY FREAKING OUT. it's been 7 days since I have started this life change. Constant water. Eating right. Exercising. All at a nice pace so I don't burn out. In a week I have lost 5 pounds. Yet, today I realized I have zero clue what I am doing. I have no clue what to eat. Do I do abs today? Arms? I have only been doing up to 10 mins a day because I'm not use to working out. And in the past I hated it. This way I at least make it a habit. I'm actually starting to love it.
I'm just all around confused. Lol.

We all have to do what is right for our own bodies, not some one else. If you have lost 5 lbs. in one wk., you are diffenitly on the right track. I also only work out for 10 min. & that's 1 or 2 times a week. I've heard others say to work out something different every time you work out, so your body doesn't get into a routine.

I was in the same boat. I knew what I wanted but had no idea how. Research seemed to fail me because of all the different types of diets. Low carb, calorie counting, detoxing, whole foods, point systems, high protein... My friggin brain went numb. I ended up ordering the 21 day fix. Not so much for the portion cups but for the guide book. It helped a ton. A pretty complete list of foods good to eat and ones to avoid. It also help give me a better understanding of how much of an item I should actually consume in a day. The exercise part is something I hate. Everyone says "Oh it gets easier and you will start to love it." That's a crock. Exercise... Real exercise is hard and not fun.

I know what you mean on research, every site says something different. That's why I just started eating right again, plus you have to do what's right for your body. I say again because I did it several years ago & lost 53 lbs. I didn't exercise much then. I mainly mix up my work outs because I get bored doing the same thing over & over.

What do you want to accomplish? Just losing weight? Gaining muscle? That will determine how you proceed.

Thanks for all this! Honestly I'm not too concerned about weight as I am about getting healthy and toned. According the wonderful internet, I should ideally weight 107. My boyfriend thinks this is ridiculous and I agree. about 3 years about I was at 116 and everyone thought I was anorexic. I figure if I get to 125 I will look healthy. LOL. Regardless, I do need to learn to eat healthier and incorporate exercise. And we all agree it is not at all fun. So my goals? 1: drop to 125 or to a weight where I can enjoy clothes again 2: make healthier food choices 3: get more toned So far, this is what I have. I'm sure they will change. Thanks again!!!

So, based on your goals, you need a balanced diet from healthy sources, probably some light to moderate exercise, and to try to keep your caloric intake below your maitenance level until you reach your weight goal. Then maintain your caloric intake at your maintenance level.

What you eat isn't as important as the caloric value of what you eat.

7 days and 5 lbs down, you're doing something right. I agree the calories and Draglist - set a daily calorie goal for food intake. Workouts are a bonus calorie burn and good too, do what you can and work up from there. Small changes at a time. Nice job!

examine.com Seriously, that is the end all be all for essentially all questions. Eat what you prefer. Try your best to eat healthy but also enjoy the foods you love. Calories in calories out.

Hey, don't panic! Hopefully it will balance out in your mind eventually! Just pray and believe that you are doing fine and it will all work out just fine!

Research, then trial and error. The internet is chocked full of exercise routines and ideas. Find what works for you and keeps you motivated. When your motivation for an exercise wanes, try something different. So far, it looks like you're on the right track. We, here at FS, will do our parts to support you and keep you motivated.

Thanks!! I will certainly look at examine.com! As far as exercise, I got on Youtube and found some short videos (for all the different area) that I really enjoy. Once I get into the groove of things, and start getting stronger, then I will progress up. I figure its all trial and error and this is just one of those things where we pick the best parts of things that fits for us. There really isn't one best way.
