I do this sometimes and love it. This is also really really good with tuna!

try plain greek yogurt in lieu of mayonnaise. way more protein with way less calories. i used hot sauce and a few drops of sesame oil and it tasted no different.

Morticia - I love them both but we don’t eat real crab that often just because of price! This was on sale and I couldn’t help myself lol

Alexis - Omg I have SO much tuna I need to use, I’ll definitely try that next time!

Steveputer - I’ll definitely try that next time! I used light Mayo so the calories were definitely down but I’d love to get more protein if possible! I added some sesame oil to the cauliflower rice and it was phenomenal so I can definitely see working it into the creamy aspect of stuff!

Mmm! I have been thinking about trying this type of healthier conversion and wondered how it would compare. Looks like you nailed it.

Looks great! How is the YellowBird Sauce? I’ve been wanting to try it for a while!

It’s so good Newton! Definitely a little expensive especially at the rate I use sriracha at lol but definitely worth it! This one is my favorite but their habanero sauce is really good too!

The Yellowbird Ghost Pepper Sauce is my all time favorite store-bought picante. I’ll have to try the Siracha.

You might also consider trying some of the vegan tofu-based mayo recipes, if you're looking for lighter alternatives. I make one from the Veganomicon cookbook that I could eat with a spoon by itself 😂 That said, if a spoonful of real mayo here and there fits with what you're doing and turns the meal from good to great, no reason not to work it in. I sometimes make DIY huevos-- all the ingredients, none of the pre-assembly -- but never thought to do it with sushi. Totally stealing this idea!
