Debbie Cousins's Journal, 25 December 2022

Another couple moments of weakness today. Ended up with 1,798 average calories per day for the week and exactly 2,000 calories for today! Had gone over, but caught it and am able to cut my Butter Beans portion from 225 to 186g tonight to make the numbers what I want them to be.

Going to have to up this coming week's average daily calories to 1,600. We got several restaurant gift cards for Christmas, and I'm going to indulge in Cracker Barrel Pecan Pancakes on Wednesday and their Homestyle Chicken with Carrots (one meal will last for Friday AND Saturday). After a couple of weeks of baking and cooking, it will be nice to get takeout!

Still have those Chocolate Covered Pecans in the house. I asked my husband for ONE today, and he brought me the whole bag (I ended up eating three!) I made him hide them from me again, and tomorrow I'm going to have him ONLY give me six of them (170 calories). I'll be glad when those delicious things are gone!

Pretty sure my weight will be UP for tomorrow morning's weigh-in! It's okay. I've made peace with it. It would be a wonderful miracle if my weight is the SAME as it was last Monday - but will be very surprised if it is, and I'd drop dead from shock if I've actually lost some! The fact that this has happened only once in 26 weeks is still something to be proud of. (Though I can't take the glory for it - without the Lord, I would have been continually gaining for the past six months, as I had been for the previous six.)

Things I've learned:
- Progress is more important than perfection.
- There are some things that I just can NOT resist - keep them out of the house!
- I need to "spend" more calories on fruits and veggies than on sugary desserts.
- I still need to get in more protein.
- With regard to water - just drink it, whether I want to or not.

I know I've never really said much to you. But I wanted to say I almost always smile while reading your journal. You seem like a wonderful lady. I've tried getting my wife to hide some of the things I love... she usually just laughs at me. Keep on keeping on🙏
