jessberry's Journal, 07 February 2015

Well, the scale is staying the same, but I'm slowly losing fat and BMI is going down... I'm so glad I bought a digital scale that has this option, otherwise I'd be very discouraged! I've been drinking the bulletproof coffee for a week now, and I've got to say, it's very filling and has def helped me curb my craving for sweets, which is pretty amazing. I'm pretty frustrated with a particular issue at home, so not running to sweets when I'm depressed is a huge feat for me! Maybe I am finally learning how to control my eating...

What is a Bulletproof Coffee?

I've read a little about bullet proof coffee, do you need to buy a particular brand of coffee and butter? How much butter do you add?

Nice slowly losing fat is a good thing! Never tried the bulletproof coffee but I hear it gives a feeling of energy after you drink it.

i am an emotional eater too.. i eat when im happy, sad , or whatever..someone told me eat to live , not live to eat.. and ive been applying that motto this last week.. Im in the same boat.. i feel thinner/lighter but scale hasnt moved. Ive decided to ignore it and keep on trucking! I think your doing great. What other MIM varieties have you tried? I thought of maybe making the same boring one but flavoring my cream cheese with berries or canned pumkin.. I let you know if that works.. hehe..Hang in there..

Thanks, everybody! The bulletproof coffee is supposed to be made with high quality coffee (I just buy organic), mct oil (I use a mixture of organic raw coconut oil oil and liquid coconut oil), and unsalted grass fed butter (I buy kerrygold brand). If you go to the bulletproof website, they push their own brands, and it can get expensive, so I did my own research and purchased similar items for way less! I add vanilla and liquid stevia, and I love it. I would only recommend this coffee if you are low carbing... It has extremely high fat, and even though it's healthy fat, I don't think high fat/high carb would be a good combo, although I could be wrong. Glen! I was wondering how you have been since the Super Bowl... I've been logging my food, but not much else on here, home stuff has kept me pretty busy lately. I did read your journal entry about the evening with your wife... She's a lucky lady! I think it's great that you're still experimenting with the MIM's... I still haven't tried the berries, but I will soon. When you add the berries, do you still add cinnamon, or just sweetener?

Redgirl, I usually make the original recipe or skip the cinnamon and sweetener and add garlic salt/ onion powder and make garlic bread or cheesy garlic toast. My buddy Glen has tried adding raspberries and it turned out well... Although from his story mentioned above, something happened on his last batch (better luck next time, Glen! 😉) If you find a good combo, please share!! Lindar, I forgot to mention how much of each ingredient I use in my previous comment. I usually brew my coffee (I don't like it very strong), and blend that(usually about 8 oz of coffee, sometimes a little more) with 1 tbsp liquid coconut oil, 1tbsp raw coconut oil, and 2 tbsp butter. It's best to use a blender... I use a nutribullet and it works very well. Because the coffee is hot when being blended, once you have blended it for a few seconds, take the lid off to release the pressure and then blend a little more. If you don't do this, it could crack your container or blow the lid off the blender and make a huge mess ;)
