Debbie Cousins's Journal, 14 July 2022

Drank a gallon of water yesterday. Stuck to only three 12-oz Diet Cokes, even though it was really hard at the pool - I usually drink FIVE of them just during the 3-4 hours we are there. Got in cherries (21), butter beans (generous bowl) and cucumbers (2 mini) for my fruits/veggies.

Today, I am having a hard day. I am rationalizing with myself that, since I followed my diet perfectly for ten days, I should be able to have an "all you care to eat" day today (but eating healthy foods, just without limiting them). "The force is strong with this one." It's not quite 9am, and I've already had one slice of Dave's Killer bread toasted with butter, 21 cherries, a bowl of watermelon and 3 saltine crackers with pimiento cheese dip. I also prepared my LUNCH Diet Coke, and took a couple of sips out of it with the cheese crackers.

Yesterday, I changed my RDI from 2,000 calories to 1,800 because I had been sticking closer to 1,600 each day. So far, I'm still on track to have 1,770 calories today (if I don't add anything else, other than what I've logged ahead). Standing on a precipice here, deciding which way to let myself fall.

Help, Lord!

Definition of insanity. Doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result! My go-to words of wisdom for myself. Recently when I wasn't losing weight I finally figured out I was somehow sabotaging my goal with free pouring my own version of Diet Coke. That turned the page when I realized how much time had been 'stolen. I don't know if any of this will help you. But I always wish you the best. Have a great time at the pool :-)
