-MorticiaAddams's Journal, 28 May 2022

My weight is still hovering up and down in the same area - 178.2 for a low up to 181.8 for a high. It doesn't sound like much variation but it doesn't help me reach my goal which is a normal A1c. I will achieve that by losing weight, eating right, exercising. Lately, my appetite has increased but my activity has not. It's past time for me to change that. I think something has triggered my appetite and it's time for me to find out what that is. The culprit is possibly eating out more than usual as May is my busiest month and the first part of June is right behind it. I have to avoid eating out as much as possible. Not really feasible when I have to be out of town all day. I am also eating at the high end of my carbs and calories when eating at home. Snacking more. I know I am not drinking enough water. I'm stressing. Not sleeping well. I need to get back to decluttering more. Today I did some gardening - weeded the 2 hosta beds and perennial beds, planted a bunch of herbs in pots. I'm trying to catch up outside before hot weather hits which will be very soon.

Good luck - plan ahead, no alcohol, cut out dessert. A thin man I used to know ate at a restaurant every night, so I know it's a mind game to eat more when you are eating out to eat right.

I don't drink alcohol and rarely have a planned dessert.

I do daily I.F. I have lost 54 pounds and my a1c went from 6.8 to 5.7 so I am almost normal. My net carbs are usually between 75- 90.

I have worked so hard at this since July 1st of last year. I can't give up now.

If I can add my two cents...focus on sleep first. The minute my sleep goes to hell, my appetite gets crazy, and all I want to eat is carbs. But I’m sure you know this. Lack of sleep and high stress are two huge triggers! I find when I focus on sleep first, everything else is a little easier. You are doing great 👍.

You definitely may be onto something as I was doing so much better before I was getting less than 5 hours of sleep a day. Thanks for the support!

For sure water and sleep play a roll. I'm going through the same thing. A tad higher than you but I keep teetering in a tiny range as well and it's driving me nuts. This week (cus it was actual hell) I decided to try and eat in deficit all week and one day just whatever. I didn't go overboard at all but I went out and ate chips n salsa and had a burrito and frankly didn't care. I guess in the next few days I could see the result but I did lose a little after doing that. I don't know if weighing every day is good or bad. Part of me thinks it's be easier to maybe do it once a week and see the whole chunk come off at once.. but I think cus this is all new to me that it does help to see it everyday and know either I did too much or little. It totally baseman to me that if I get between 7500-10k steps a day I'm pretty much good whether I'm in a deficit or not. For the most part though I have been in one pretty consistently. I do find that eating out at least for me makes it really really hard. I wanted to also thank you for all of your support, you can not imagine how much it has helped me get through these hard days. I so appreciate you. 😭💕

Don’t give up. I know when I garden it helps me relax and give me dreams about weeds goring everywhere lol. I agree with the others and try to get your sleep on track. Maybe try the Calm app if you have that?

misChelle_ I think that most of us have to have some chips, salsa, and a burrito every once in a while. Eating healthy can get old fairly quick without some "treats" occasionally. I don't want to think about never being able to have pizza again or a taco. Too depressing. I know from personal experience that for me I have to weigh every day and track all my food. I appreciate you too. I'm happy to have great friends like you. slsmitty, I can't give up. It's not an option. I just have to fall down sometimes and get back up. I am sleeping some better again and am drinking more.

I know but I was obese and losing weight is one of the best ways for obese people to lower their a1c.

I have diabetes so I am not eating ice cream and cake. I have ribs without sugar.
