Being a trusting soul with an open heart is nothing to be embarrassed about! Still, keep your name, address etc. AND your wallet private! Just saying! Nothing wrong with you Bleueyes!

Don't be embarrased. I've known A Vice Presidents (not USA) but a company who didn't even recognize he was being scammed. Nothing to be ashamed of. I think it is terrific that you recognized what was happening before you gave the $$$. Good thinking on your part.

I too almost got caught up in a similar situation, but thanks to my tech savy granddaughter I didn’t fall into his trap! He was on every social website spinning his web and using a stolen picture to post as his own! That perp was probably an ugly tweep in Russia or India 😡😡😡.

Ive gotten them a lot. Comes in waves. I call them the "silver fox" requests. Always a good looking older man, sometimes in the military, usually is a widower with kids, Ive discovered that If I look further into his friends list - sometimes there are other men with Nigerian profiles - Nigeria is a big hub for scammers. I ALSO got requests through Words with Friends. I used to feel bad just blocking them without a courtesy explanation, but I'm over that now.

They steel someone’s photo and pretend to be someone else. This is a scam that has been going on for years. I am glad you didn’t fall for it

Don't be embarrassed you were smart enough not to fall for his scam.

It's not really that: it's just that go look at their profile. If they're standing in front of a building with a name in cyrillic they're probably not in the US. If they have four photos, all of them smiley face ones of themselves, together with random picture of 10 yr old daughter - probably not real. If they have no friends, probably not real. If they have 50 friends but they're all female, probably not real. If they have fifty friends, not all female, but all named weird russian names? probably not real. If you get enough probably nots, just give them the kick. But I've had a lot of interactions with strangers who were genuine on facebook. :)
