Happy Friday Everyone!!

Today is when the real rains hit CT. There is a flood warning for the entire state. It's nothing, of course, compared to the water issues happening in Japan, Hawaii, or the West Coast. My thoughts are with them and anyone who has loved ones there.

Anyhow, I'm in much better spirits than on Wednesday. All in all, it's been a fair week, not great but not bad. I've just been feeling unproductive for the last few days. Having "Linger" by the Cranberries stuck in my head for two days isn't helping!!!! I heard it in the market and now it's stuck in my head. Of all songs, really?!?!

I'm really looking forward to the comedy show tomorrow. Also UConn is playing in the Big East Semis tonight by way of upsetting Pittsburgh yesterday. I have many other thoughts on college basketball, but this is a weight management journal. Anyway, I'm going to happy hour tonight to celebrate a buddy's birthday. I hope he doesn't mind that come 7:00 my attention turns to the game.

Exercise for the week: 3 days of bike (32.4 miles) and two days of planks.

Food: Unbeknownst to me, my mother subscribed to Cooking Light last year. We told her how much our cooking at home has helped us toward our goal. They are now sitting on our kitchen table, with dog-eared pages. Then my wife sends me web pages of WW recipes that she wants to try. I've been making all new dishes but since she's been traveling, I have loads of leftovers and I'm not cooking dinner every night. Long story short I still have perishable ingredients in the fridge for dishes I wanted to make earlier in the week!!! What I have made this week? Wild Salmon and Poached Egg sandwich (Cooking Light), Fettuccine with Mushrooms and Hazelnuts (Cooking Light), Chicken Tetrazzini (WW), and Baked Ziti and Spicy Turkey Sausage (WW). Apparently, I've been on a Mediterranean kick. My only complaint is the prep times for all these recipes is probably 2x what the recipe says and I’m not eating until 9:00 if I’m working out. Don’t tell the “Paleo” guy. That was mean…Sorry.

Okay this is long enough :), so I will conclude with another favorite (basketball related, of course): “Be quick, but don’t hurry.” – John Wooden

Oh dear.. I would be trying to cut my head off if I had Linger stuck in my head for more than an hour lol Don't get me wrong I love the Cranberries.. but not that much. Hopefully you guys don't get flooded out!

@ Pixi - Sorta tough to complain about the rain with the Pacific not being very pacified. We live on a hill, and our basment is nicely sealed so it's not really that bad. Our friends up the road have a leaky basement though. I am sooooo happy we didn't wait one more year for the roof. That's for sure.

Yeah its hard to complain about the cold and snow whith what is happening in the Pacific right now. It really puts things into perspective for me. Leaky basements are never fun, I am hoping once it starts to melt here I am able to get majority of our snow away from the house because I have no idea how well sealed the basement of this house is, and my landlord is kind of a tool and would be no help at all lol

Stay dry! And if it's any consolation on the Linger being stuck in your head, my 4 year old put "Down by the Bay" (where the watermelons grow...) into mine a few days ago and it's an earworm I just cannot get rid of. Making me mental.

Cooking Light does have a lot of good recipes. I usually make the same stuff most nights that don't have a lot of prep (protein + bagged salad, or a grain/veg salad I can make and eat for a couple nights). And then I save the experimental stuff for the weekend or a once a week "new recipe" night. "Linger" is a catchy song. Supposedly if you sing the National Anthem you can get anything out of your head. Usually works for me. OH and don't worry about writing non food stuff in your journal. I like reading non food stuff. Had the weather channel on this am and it doesn't look good for Japan.

Z's: LOL about Down by the Bay. OMG. That makes me laugh. I ALWAYS get that stuck in my head for days and sing it like a lunatic. My sister also gets it in her head.

@Zs - I don't mind the rain. I mind the flooded roads. And by dry, What do you mean? I'm certainly have a couple at happy hour!! Ha, ha. Actually I have to rein that in a little bit again. I've had a few during the week this week too.

Hey down by the bay is better than John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt... The song that never ends, or the song that gets on every bodies nerves.

I don't have kids...yet. But my brother is a huge fan, so to speak, of the Wiggles!! My Godson didn't want to even say bye to me last week because he was ingrossed in Pheneas and Ferb (sp?). "But Ryan, I'm really going and I won't see you until Easter."... "Get out of the way!!!!" Gotta love 4 year olds!!!

No the song that never ends is actually "The Song That Never Ends." Damn you, Lambchop!!!

OK... I have to admit I love Pheneas and Ferb. My niece does the same thing, the other day she was watching Arthur and I went to give her a hug and she kept moving away from me so she could see the TV. lol.

Hahaha. Omg. LAst summer these kids near my parents house were singing that John Jacon Jingleheimer Song for what seemed like two hours. They are on the water so it was really loud and I couldn't believe the kids had that kind of stamina or focus.

Thanks for the tip re: the Nat. Anthem, Beets. Another Cranberries song came on as I write this. I can't Win!!! Ha, Ha. Anyway I had a whole paragraph written on National Coach of the year and whatnot, but the entry was getting long as it was. Pretty soon, I'm gonna go against Coach Wooden's advice and I'll have to hurry.
