Tussah's Journal, 10 November 2013

OK, I've been tracking my daily input and weight for the past week or so. I feel comfortable that my daily input is a reasonable number of calories and fat / carb / ratios, so I'm going to scale back the daily diet recording.

Likewise, I'm not going to post my daily weight, because it isn't providing useful information, since it has no way of knowing how much of my weight is me, and how much is my clothes, or what is just passing through. Also, Fatsecret doesn't provide useful graphs or trend lines, and their daily weight messages are just annoying.

My plan is to keep on doing what I've been doing for the past year, and keep my portion sizes reasonable. I will post a new weight whenever the scale shows me down a pound, and most likely that will mean posting every week or two. By doing that, I should have a better idea of what my weight loss trend really is, since my daily weight can vary as much as 2 pounds, depending on how much transient weight (food, water, and waste) is currently in the system.

If you can do that through all the holidays, you are much better than me, lol. I know I will have to record every morsel or I fall off and all the nibbling on this and that starts adding up and I start gaining. I also have to measure out portions. But you have more freedom on Atkins to do that. So good luck~

Thanks, Suzi161. I made this lifestyle change over a year ago, and I haven't had any trouble keeping my pledge to not eat sugar or starch. Since I never allow myself to go hungry, I feel pretty sure that I won't fall of the wagon and eat crap during the holidays. At my office, sweets and baked goods are ALWAYS available, so I would know by now if I were likely to be tempted by them. Of course, I want to continue to lose weight, but my commitment is for my health and it's for the rest of my life, so if it takes longer to lose the weight, no matter. I was really only tracking calories out of curiosity, since I had no idea how many calories I have been consuming. Not an unreasonable number, so I think I'm on the right track. Good luck to you, too!

I also wanted to record today's measurements: waist: 42 inches Hips: 52 inches I am pretty sure that both measurements were an inch bigger back in late September when I measured myself for a knitted vest, but I didn't record them, so I can't guarantee that. My clothes are all definitely fitting me very loosely, so I'm having to do some clothes weeding to see what I can wear this winter.
