Sandy701's Journal, 31 October 2010

Normally, I take Sundays off from walking but because I couldn't walk due to storms 1 day this week, I walked the dogs 2.3 miles, cutting off one of my usual loops. But, it was exceptionally quiet in the neighborhood and I was able to help a woman find her cat, as well. That just gave me a great feeling to start the day.

Talk about coincidences...yesterday, I was walking and a neighbor down the way told me about a cat that she found....very beautiful, obviously well-cared-for. The woman couldn't keep the cat, but had asked all the neighbors nearby and no one knew anything about the cat. So this neighbor said she was telling all of us walkers/joggers/dog walkers about this so we could pass along the info and see if anyone knew the owner. If no one claimed the cat, she was going to call an organization that shelters homeless cats - a no-kill shelter.

Fast forward to this morning and I'm walking down a small loop I rarely take when I see a slow moving car turn into a cul-de-sac. I'm already past the entrance when I think I hear someone calling out a name, like one would do if one had lost a pet. I turn back to the entrance and wait for the car to come out. I ask the woman if she's looking for a cat and she says, "Yes," describing it to a T. So, I gave her the address of the woman who had the cat yesterday and passed along the name of the shelter the finder had been considering. Hopefully, they had a happy reunion!

But isn't it interesting that I happened to talk to that neighbor yesterday about the newly-found cat AND that the very next day I encounter the cat's owner on a day I'd normally NOT be walking, and on a road I'd normally NOT be walking....amazing, isn't it?

Back to food matters. No sugar alcohols yesterday. No ReddiWip either. I also ate a protein-packed snack (cheeseburger) at about 3:30 instead of that Atkins bar, then had just a salad for dinner. I was still hungry later, so had a small portion of meat at about 9PM. Result was that I dropped .2 pounds and am solidly in the 187's. The way I view weight, I believe I'm now 187, not 188 any more. We'll see how long this number holds and if what I'm adjusting keeps making a difference. I've also been eating "slightly" more calories, and the tiredness is gone. Lots to ponder here......
