There's an emoticon for how I'm feeling right now, and it's this: o_O

I stepped on the scale this morning, in the same place as always (in the "corner" of the same tile, always), and it read a ridiculous number that is 17 LBs less than I've been clocking. Fun, I thought. It's a preview of the future, about 2 months from now. I must have been standing on it funny. So I wait and get on again.

282. No, that's not right. So I get on again.

282. So I take the BATTERY out of it, which is how I have attempted to reset it in the past when it seemed "too low." (Strangely, I do not have a concept of it reading "too high.") I put it back down precisely where it goes and stand on it again.

282. How could it say 299 yesterday, and 282 today? I'm going to weigh again after I eat my breakfast, and I expect that whatever pranking it was trying to pull on me will have passed, but... I just can't afford a new scale right now. The battery seems fine and I only bought it this year!

I say, find a friend and use their scale. and if their scale says the same, then record it. Maybe the 299 was wrong! Maybe, just maybe, the whoosh fairy visited last night! I sure hope so!! That is what I am rooting for!!

I don't really have any local friendships like that. No one except my supervisor (who guessed) knows I'm on a diet. My closest, local friend has an ED, so she doesn't keep a scale at her house. Working 12-16 hour days means that all of my "friends" are at work, I guess. These are the people who will scrutinize what I (the ONLY heavy person) eat. Ugh, I don't know who to ask. I may just have to adjust for a certain amount of error until I can purchase another one. The most I've ever lost in a whoosh is 8 LBs, and I think if it's the second week of induction after a year of eating badly, it probably doesn't count. :) But... not even a nice BRIBE to the whoosh fairy would've resulted in 17 LBs, so maybe the 299 WAS wrong. Argh. Stupid scale.

It may be that the 299 was wrong. After all isnce the 12th of August it has only been 10 pounds and it seems to me that you have been following your lifestyle very well, except for the birthday party. Let me know what the scale says later!! I am keeping fingers crossed XXX!!

Well, I weighed again after eating. The bad news: The 17 LBs was some kind of cruel scale humor. The good news: I am still a bit down (297.2), but it's certainly not WHOOSH worthy. Harumph!

Well, 1.8 is good :) And remember it is actually more than that since you ate before you weighed. Next time the scale acts like that though a think a large baseball bat would do the trick.

It's still a loss, and any loss is a good loss! But bummer that it wasn't the whoosh fairy!

Kboat562: the bat sounds like a great idea! That's what I wanted to do AFTER it lied to me, lol.
