One downside to not telling your coworkers you're on a diet: When they decide to surprise you with a "years of service" cake, you will get a cake. :-/

I was so happy and taken aback at how nice the whole thing was... that I DID eat the cake. No excuses, no apologies. And, strangely, no weird carb coma feelings (it was just a piece of strawberry shortcake, after all). I was "back on the bus" immediately after, but now I'm eyeing the helium in those party balloons... might be a side effect. :D

one piece of cake is allowed. You don't want to deprive yourself of foods that you love. Moderation is the key. Good job

I am currently grappling back and forth with "planned cheats." I have my birthday, son's birthday, husband's birtday and then Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner... but part of me thinks this is not "being strong." Mostly, I don't want to get into a fight with my sister-in-law when I tell her I don't want her "prize" stuffing. :S
