The scale shows I've dropped some weight over the last 3 days. I've eaten more calories per day for the last few days (2000-2200) than I have in quite a while.

I have been SO HUNGRY, and I didn't prepare for needing more than one snack during the workday. Why is this happening when I've increased caloric intake??

I read a post on the Atkins site that was interesting. The poster stated that sometimes shaking things up a little - eating different amounts of calories or carbs each day - can help to break a plateau. Maybe that's true. The basis for this was that your body gets used to a constant intake and expects it, so changing the pattern or alternating the pattern can change your body's reaction.

Thanks Dogwalk. I think it's definitely worth some experimenting. The body does throw some tantrums when too many things are changing. Hopefully sometimes that tantrum involves some weight/inches being lost. :)

I also read something today about "zig zagging" your calories. It could apply to carbs too, perhaps(I was trying to find out my bmr estimate, which I finally did). The site said to figure out the average amount of calories you needed to lose weight and then switch up and down your caloric intake through the week so that some days are higher and some are lower but the *weekly average* comes out to be the amount of calories you had figured you needed to lose with. Like if you wanted to eat 2000 a day you might switch between 1800 and 2200 on alternate days. The article said it is all about the body trying to stay the same (to stay in homeostasis). I'll message you the link if you'd like it. I couldn't eat the amount of calories they calculated for my weight but the article was interesting.

This is a good idea, Odyssey. When I plateau next time (I'm currently losing again... for now), I'm going to do this. 1600 first day, 2400 next day, 1700 third day, 2300 fourth day, etc., and see what happens.
