Just a day of reflecting here ~ It’s been quite a journey for me since I decided to change my health. I’ve been steady at times, up and down with weight, careless, focused, impatient, happy, frustrated… I could go on, but in a nutshell, until I replaced the word “diet” with “lifestyle”, I was on a ride that was, in itself, rather unhealthy.


So over that past 5 years (mind you, up and down with only being consistent for a few months at a time) I’ve lost, overall, 120lbs. My highest was 328lbs and I had T2 diabetes, high blood pressure, sleep apnea paired with narcolepsy, tendinitis in both ankles and a limp & a waddle that I was very embarrassed of. I avoided swimming (unless I was by myself), couldn’t stand up from a chair without momentum, couldn’t buckle a seatbelt on a plane and I didn’t sit in any type of outdoor furniture that folded, or roller coasters, or bikes. I avoided mirrors and hated the camera… My body was holding me hostage. In 2011, I had actually lost 89 pounds! It was lost very quickly and low & behold I gained it all back. A whole entire 2 or more years got away from me. Most times I just accepted the fact that I might be obese forever. WTH was I thinking?


Now, with 120lbs of weight gone, no medications, no sleep apnea and no pain, I feel empowered. I no longer worry about where I will fit. I have spring in my step, not limps. I look forward to my activities EVERY day. I’m happy. I’m focused. I have so much energy. I feel free.


I read so many different journal entries on a daily basis here at FS. Ones that inspire, some seeking advice, some frustrations, some victories, various WOE’s, great recipes (some not for everyone’s woe, and that’s OK!), work out routines etc. So many posts have inspired me and have helped me stay focused.


Please, please please…if you are struggling, don’t give up. Have patience. Have faith. Listen to your body. Push yourself. Read informational articles. Take baby steps. Stay true to your journal. Not everyone is here to lose weight…some are here for diabetes, HBP, cholesterol, some to gain weight. Staying true to your journal can help you achieve the goal you reach for. Don’t stop once you get to your goal either – keep going so you don’t fall back (been there, done that).

@aaron, thank you! No, its not easy especially in the beginning but now it seems so fun to learn, exercise, create new recipes, you name it. Its like a whole new life.

Wow! This truly inspires me. I've been trying to lose weight, since August 19th. I've lost 12lbs. so far, but I can't stay out of bakeries. My doctor told me to eat 2500 cal, but I changed it to 2000cal. Even when I eat my sweets, I stay under my 2000 cal. Looking at your picture is like two different people. I can't wait to reach my first goal of 30lbs by November 26th. I want to lose 50lbs by January 1st. I've drastically reduced my calorie intake, because I was eating anything and everything. Thanks for your words of inspiration and mostly those pictures. 😀

Goodness, you are an inspiration. I'm sitting here wondering if I should get in the pool, and embarrassed that people will see me. You are giving me the strength to go ahead. I have also felt trapped by my body. Seeing you plow through is an energy bolt.
