Sandy701's Journal, 13 January 2013

Warm, cloudy, humid day....76 degrees at somewhat after 1PM. That's WARM....even for us!

Yesterday, got my 3.1 mile walk in, part of it with DH and dogs, part of it on my own groovin' to the tunes. Told DH that the good DJ must have been on duty, as the songs played were exactly the upbeat, rockin' kind of songs I like to hear that make me almost dance along as I walk down the streets!

Unfortunately, the Packers lost their playoff game last night, so it's time to take down and pack away all the Packer items we like to have out for the season. For the game, DH and I splurged on making our own wings PLUS I decided to try a new snack food.....microwave pork rinds!!!

I got the microwave pork rinds (Lowrey's brand) on a whim when I saw them in the grocery store a couple weeks back. They are single packages that look like the folded up microwave popcorn packages. DH really likes them, but I wasn't sure I would because I've never really gotten into the pork rinds thing that some people do when they first begin Atkins. Yesterday, I decided to try them as an alternative to the crunchiness I'm looking for when I reach for peanuts. These are not an ideal food, but at maybe 0-3.5 NCs per package and 210 calories per package, it's not a bad deal. Although I had a full package yesterday, it was over a few hours. Otherwise, even half a package is a LOT of crunchiness!!

So sorry about your Packers. Thanks for the microwave pork rind review - Maybe I'd like them if they had a "hot and fresh" quality about them - LOL.

Buffy, the rinds are so "fresh" they still crackle and pop after putting them into a bowl! Even more so that Rice Krispies!!!

Heather, the last couple days have been solidly into the 70's....very uncharacteristic, even for us. The slowly-moving cold front should finally get through here in the next day or two and then we'll be into the low 60's.....still nice, but more typical for us. I'll be thinking about you and your party tonight.

Bren, like all true fans, I had thought that this year for the Packers would again be, "the year!" Ah, well.....that SF quarterback gave the Packers' defense fits, so hopefully, by next year, the Packers will have figured out what to do about that. Be sure to keep that happy light on today!!
