Sandy701's Journal, 04 January 2013

Still a cold day today, but by noon-time, the sun was out and it was warming up. Walked the usual 3.1 miles with both doggies plus DH was along for about half of it, too.

We're having chicken legs for dinner. Found some really BIG chicken legs at the store the other day and couldn't resist. Those poor chickens must have been body-builder chickens, as the legs are HUGE. I even took out my glasses to be sure the label said chicken, and not turkey, as they were THAT big!

I took my Collie guy to the vet today (routine stuff) and we set a "first." It was the first time he never barked at the vet's!!! Usually, he's just got to bark at something....usually another frisky dog.....but even with 2 other mega-barkers waiting outside, due to owner embarrassment over their noise and antics, he behaved himself and never let loose with his loud, piercing bark. After having this Collie, I know why they are good herders.....that bark would drive the cows....or sheep....nuts, and they'd move just to shut him up!

Good jog on the walking, Sandy. Your collie sounds like quite the personality. Yes, I can see him herding Bren's cows, for sure. Thanks for the book reference. You're a dear.

Sandy - sorry I missed this. Yesterday was kind of crazy for me.

Bren, this guy would LOVE to herd something....just as long as there are no chickens close by! During an unsuccessful adoption, he accidentally thought he could PLAY with the chickens the way he'd play with another dog and, well.....you can figure out why the adoption didn't work out!!! Too bad for the chickens, but that meant he came back into the system and we eventually got him!

Heather, I took your journal to mean that you'd go lower carb "if you could" and still continue with all the working out that you do. I thought this book might give you another viewpoint, although, obviously, what you're doing now has certainly produced some impressive results!!! I'm not working out like you, and others, so I don't have to face the carb-loading dilemma - LOL!
