Day 333- the world did not end so I guess I have to run in the morning. So here is my update on running over the past few months. To go back to Oct. I really increased my miles and ran a 7 mi run one day to only have a foot pain that nagged at me when I wore certain shoes. I switched the running shoes I was running in and the pain became less but still hurt after every run or if I wore my work shoes. I kept running but decreased my miles down to 10 mi a week.

I ran a 5k about every two weeks through the fall with my last one being on Thanksgiving where my whole family ran. I have continued to break my PB every race, but my foot still hurt.

After the Thanksgiving day race I cut my running back even more to about 2 or 3 days a week and under 10 mi a week. Foot pain still nagged me. I did as much research as I could and ruled out just about everything it possibly could be. I swore I had a stress fracture but it never hurt when I put pressure on it.

2 weeks ago I went to the Dr for my check-up on my blood work and brought it up then to him. He was stumped also after we went through the regular checks. He thought maybe tendonitis? But the pain would go away… well to make a long story short, he thought the best thing to do was to take a week off from running and take 2 ibuprofen in the morning and 2 at night. I did it and the pain is gone…. I started running again this week and no pain. My abs are killing me after my run but no foot pain, I am happy. I kept thinking I was going to have to take the winter off and start building up again in Feb.

The part that would have sucked the most was I was really starting to get fast and did not want to lose my pace. The week after my last race I went out for a training run and did some intervals and ended up running the distance of a 5K at an average pace 1 min faster than my last race.

I just hope I can continue without the injury again.

As for other exercise, I only really do a workout if I am at a hotel for the night. It gives me something to do and a way to stay out of trouble. When I am home I do not have a set plan. I need to work on that for the next few weeks. I will be home a lot.

Overall I feel great and know a year ago I felt like crap at this time, wondering how to get through the Holidays without sitting around and eating all the time. It is going to be a great year!

Tomorrow- Update on diet (what I eat).

Happy to hear that the foot pain has healed with a week off and that you keep getting faster! You are going to be setting some great times in the spring I'm sure. Any plans to move up to longer races like a 10k? Enjoy your holidays feeling much better than last year!!

Yes, I will start to move up. I want to do the Disney 1/2 next January if the timing works.
