Sandy701's Journal, 05 December 2012

Wow, this is a late entry for me today. Walked 3.2 miles with both doggies this morning. It's still unseasonably warm but we headed out a bit earlier, so it was pretty nice overall.

Before heading into the thrift shop, I got one package out via FedEx and a couple Angel Tree gifts returned to church. I finished wrapping a couple more Angels tonight, so I think I've got just 2 left....got a bit carried away this year, I guess.

Tomorrow will be another at-home day....YAY! I've still got decorating to do plus I need to use some of this time to get DH's gifts wrapped while he's at work. He's also got a birthday during this holiday time, so I need to prepare for that too.

On Friday, I need to drive DH to/from work due to an eye appointment during the day, plus I have another volunteer commitment (how DO I get into all this????!!!). What this means is that I will be off-schedule most of the day and I need to prepare for that and plan, plan, PLAN!! If I don't, I can get WAY off track. And, it's potentially worse when I get up as early as DH and go through most of the day tired. How he does it day after day is beyond me....although it's really just a matter of me being more of a night owl.

I've been reading a book lately..."Seven" by Jen Hatmaker. I bought it on a whim after reading the book jacket. The book has a serious Christian stewardship message that's focused on our stewardship of our WORLD. So, the author decided to focus on 7 areas of her life where she felt there was too much excess. Each month, she took 1 area and trimmed it to 7 items.....the first month, she limited herself to just 7 items of food, another month it was 7 items of clothing, etc. There was also a month where she trimmed her family's access to electronic media....wow....eye-opening!!! It's a phenomenal read!!!!! Just can't say enough about it! She wrote the book like a daily blogger and so it's entertaining without losing the crux of the message. If anyone's interested, I'd say give it a look at your closest Christian bookstore. It's in paperback and was pretty inexpensive.

Hi Bren. I'm hoping they don't find anything else to do on DH's eyes too.....he's had so much done in the last year, it would be nice to have a "no action needed" appointment!

Buffy, I have to have yet another stern talk with myself to keep me from picking up a few more Angels when I return the gifts to the tree, but hopefully, they'll all be taken. Last Sunday, I picked up a few extras because the coordinator told me she had been asked to handle a few more families....so the tree had lots of Angels waiting to be picked again.
