I felt that way for so long. I guess there are tons of ways to get there, but it starts with making the choice and being mindful. Counting calories worked for me, because it forced me to pay attention and since I saw results immediately, I was motivated to keep going. You have me as a buddy and I’m sure lots of others... you can do it. Really.. you can.

I have been struggling with the gain because I wasn't paying attention to what I was eating. I bought a new commercial scale because the creamery was getting tired of me using their scale, now I weigh every day and count calories. Oh yeah, I quit drinking 8 oz of rum and diet coke every day as well. I am a senior citizen and not that active but the weight is coming off.

It is not easy. I count calories but if I'm hungry near my maximum calories I make sure that I work it off (I use a stationary bike). Sometimes the thought of exercising is enough to keep me from eating that extra food.

It's going to be ok👍🏻 I know that you'll get to your goal some day. Just remember that it takes time and effort🙌🏻 PS: Sorry if this comment is a burden to you

I am at my heaviest ever too. It is not a good feeling but I find having simple goals like record my daily calorie intake, stay below my daily limit, aim to lose a pound a week, and try to walk for 30 min a day is a good way to start. If you try to do too much too fast or have goals that are too big you are less likely to make the progress you want. Keep it simple and change will come.

don't think too far ahead. set small goals for yourself which are relatively easy to follow while still challenging. walking instead of driving to a store or getting rid of one item from your typical snacks. slowly but surely. don't be too down on yourself. I think we have all felt defeated at one point or another. don't give up. good luck!

Hi Melz1988, please don't lose heart. I'M in my late seventies when it is so easy to put on weight and so hard to lose it. On Jan./18 I was at my heaviest, 216 lbs, when I joined MFS. I felt heavy and had much less energy and decided to do something to prolong my life. In the past I lived to eat instead of eating to live. so , with research I changed my food choices and quantities. I set a weight goal, not a time period and convinced myself I could do it. My greatest help was contacting a few members on MFS and sharing with them. The greatest incentive came from Kelly140, my adopted MFS daughter(unknown to her), with her positive attitude and pics of her delicious, healthy meals she posts regularly. It helps to have that personal support. It might help to touch base with one or two for mutual support and encouragement. Every meal I now join my wife, daughter, son-in-law and two grand daughters while they eat their food and I eat my food choices. It took a while to get in a routine but now has become second nature. Be prepare for the expense involved with this. I save on food but clothes have become an issue. I struggle to keep my pants up and I'm afraid I might be charged with indecent exposure if my hands are full of stuff or provide comic relief to many in the mall. Believe in yourself and keep in touch. I wish you the best.

Just put one foot in front of the other. Be kind to yourself as self love provides the strength we need to begin.

I am creating a website for this very reason. I'm not a fitness professional, I'm a healthy guy for 26 years and I want to share the strategies I've used to stay fit since I was 15 years old. I posted a bit more detail in the forum and will give it a break for a bit. My site is under development and I don't want to spam. Reading a post like this really motivates me. I want to help people feeling lost. Hang in there.

Losing weight is not easy at all. Be kind to yourself and take it day by day. Set small goals. I went traveling for three months and came back 20lbs heavier. None of my clothes fit me anymore. But I keep telling myself I will get there even if takes months and months. You will get there too.

I agree, face each day as it comes, give yourself short goals at first so that you are successful. If you happen to fall off the eating plan, get right back on with the next meal, and don't beat yourself up over it. Attitude is your best friend, keep it positive. You CAN do it, and you WILL do it!

Be kind to yourself 😊. The hardest part is getting started. You’ve already lost weight - so you’re on your way! The more you lose, the better you feel, the easier it gets. Don’t feel like you have to work out like crazy either. I’m walking 30 min a day and losing. Do what you can continue. I’m eating lots of veggies - so I can eat a ton and not feel hungry. At first I missed my high fat snacks/meals but now I crave the healthy stuff. I had to train my body and it took about a month. I’m always just one chocolate covered donut away from a relapse - but it’s easier the closer I get to my goal. Don’t give up! You can do this!!

Start by learning how to track. look up everything u track, what can u substitute? (diet for reg coke) (mustard for ranch) (water for juice) (lime for sauce) (apple for cookie) When u want to eat, ask ur self “ am I hungry” drink water 5 min after u still hungry, we’ll eat but make it hungry whole food. No snacks in between foods...u only snack at the end of the day n u make sure it fits ur new way of eating

Avoid getting on a diet that’s not gonna work for the rest of ur life, or u will end up starting again n again

There are many successful people here who started out where you are or weighing more! It is possible one day at a time. Patience and perseverance!!! You can do it if you want it enough. Best wishes to you!

reaching out for support is your first great step. Don't beat yourself up but rather be kind to yourself, treat yourself like you would like to be treated. Be healthy like you want to be. you Can do this. You Can. hugs

I think we’ve all been there. Start with a plan. Walk with a friend. Hire a personal trainer and don’t beat yourself up.
