Shirataki Noodles

in my quest to lose weight and eat LCHF I am always on the lookout for replacement foods. This is mainly for my wife and son. My wife is finally on board with LCHF and is giving it a real try. My son is just picky. We have always been pasta lovers and losing pasta was a big blow to our normal dinner menu. So I have been searching for something I could use to replace it.

Enter Shirataki noodles. These are awesome! They have 0g carbs and 0 calories. What's not to like about that? I made them for the first time last night for spaghetti and meatballs. The texture at first was kind of weird. Almost gummy like. But as I continued to eat them I got used to it rather quickly. I had 7oz of noodles along with organic sauce and homemade meatballs. My dinner came out to about 450 calories. Imagine if I had used pasta for this meal how high that count would have been.

So if you are a pasta lover like we are, giver these noodles a try. You may just find yourself planning more spaghetti dishes once again!

Yep love the Shirataki noodles and pasta! My boy loves them too, my wife though can't get over the texture. I like to sizzle them up in hot oil. Quite a suitable replacement for pasta, and did you know they require no refrigeration? At least the non-– tofu type. I buy them in a 12 pack from Amazon, seems to be The best pricing, with the advantage that I always have them in the cabinet ready to go. Sure helps keep me from cheating

Yeah that's where I got mine from. All I can find locally are the tofu ones. YUK! So when fried it should be similar to fried noodles like you would get at a hibachi place? Really gets you sorta freaked the first time you cut a bag open and the smell of fish flows out! I was sure expecting a slight fishy taste, but nope.

ive always wanted to try them , then I saw them at the Asian supermarket and the texture just kinda was a huge turn off bc they were in a bag with some kind of liquid..Im curious now and maybe its time to re revisit the idea.. THANKS

They are packed in water. They look a little whitish or translucent to some degree. But very much the size of a regular spaghetti noodle.

You can also get the angel hair, rice, fettucine and make fettucine with shrimp or crab. I also use them in soups. I enjoy boiling a bunch of meat for the broth and then I make soups, one bowl at a time using the noodles, veges and meat. I too miss the pasta more than potatoes, rice or bread. If you live in a remote area like I do, you can order them on Amazon. Sometimes, they are in with the organic food section of a grocery store.

Make sure you rinse them really well, some of them come in water that smells really fishy, but if you rinse them the smell goes away.

Tried them, but could not get over smell, texture and high fiber content. I cannot eat regular pasta as I have sensitivity to wheat, but did not find any substitutes suitable either. After 20 pasta free years I don't even miss it. I do eat rice noodles occasionally now that I am not on LC but only when I eat out.
