I'm a 53 y/o father of 3. I am a computer professional with a lot of hobbies. My latest has been restoring an old Corvette. In addition, as my handle suggests, I also sell on ebay and amazon as a hobby. I have been on a mission to get my weight down to 175 pounds. I started at 239 several years ago, but it wasn't until about 1.5 years ago I finally put all the pieces together. Was down to 192 pounds when I had an injury. Now I am back and ready to continue losing. I look forward to interacting with people here and hopefully I can offer support and/or advice to help someone else lose weight.

I am also a wannabe author...lol. I have written a couple of short books, one of them being on my weight loss. If you have kindle unlimited they are free to read. Here is a link to my bio:

For those of you on Low-Carb diets
Not to start a flaming war or anything, but carbs and fat are very, very different. Our bodies metabolize these two in very different ways. Carbs will always be converted to glucose. Once that happens, we get insulin to offset the excess which is then stored as fat.

Maintenance of a healthy digestive system requires input from lipids, which include molecules such as cholesterol, appropriate saturated and polyunsaturated fatty acids, and other lesser known components such as glycosphingolipids.

Cholesterol is the precursor to bile acids, which are needed to digest and absorb long-chain fatty acids. Cholesterol is also recognized for its physiological importance in the skin and the intestine where it plays an important structural role as a component of the organ membranes. Cells lining the digestive tract are particularly rich in cholesterol.

Get serious about food and diet or forget the whole exercise!
Rick is correct. You really have to watch where your information comes from. There are so many conflicts of interest when it comes to nutrition and diets that it just boggles the mind.
