Good morning, buddies!

Last night, I was kind of dreading the gym...as of late, there's a group of über skinny and fit girls who come around the same time Bestie and I do. On one hand, look at what I could look like! The potential "after" photo is right there! But... they are perhaps the loudest people I have ever met. Rather than come together and work out quietly, they jabber on as loudly as they can, drop weights regularly, and leave their keys in my (already claimed) cubby (even though my jacket and book were obviously there?? I don't understand why you would do that, but that's just me...). I certainly don't want to be rude to them in person, and they have every right to be there, same as me. Don't worry, I'm not going to go off on them! It just makes the gym a bit less pleasant for both me and Bestie-- neither of us are skinny, and we both prefer an empty gym to work out in. Bestie in particular has a lot of self esteem issues, and will sometimes leave early to avoid this group.

But today, they weren't there! In fact, no one was. It was just me, my music, and the machines-- the way I like it lol. Gym-wise, I was able to get in plenty of cardio on the elliptical and recumbent bike, and even did a bit of weight training. Michelle Obama-style arms, here I come!

Today, I'm trying IF again, eating only between 1 pm and 9pm. While I know that I'm choosing a longer period to eat than is probably best, my schedule can be a bit crazy. Often I'm not able to sit down and eat dinner until 8:30pm-- with homework, clubs, school...life gets a bit crazy. Still, I'm making the effort because it seems worthwhile-- I know that JockoT has had big success with IF.

The real challenge will be later. I'm making some chocolate chips for my fellow French House residents today as a "Welcome" gift. It's going to be hard to keep myself from indulging, I already know. So, to cope, I'll probably be on the app, reading success stories! That, and looking at the graph of my weight-loss; the last thing I want to do is undo all this progress!

I learned last night that I absolutely cannot have sweets in my room. When I went to check out at the Food Lion (with some ground flax seed and other health foods), an end-cap caught my eye. Cadbury cream eggs! I didn't think those came around until much later in the year, but I guess everything is being pushed up nowadays. After much internal negotiation, and carefully checking how many calories I had left for the day, I decided to get one. Well, guess what I couldn't stop thinking about at 11 pm as I tried to sleep? Yep, that darn egg. It went down the hatch (and didn't put me over on calories, but did make me crave more chocolate!). While it was really good, and isn't the worst thing for me in moderation, it really sent home that I need to keep all kinds of junk out of my room. If it's there, I'll want it!

On the positive side of willpower, when I went to the store with Bestie, we agreed to skip the chip aisle and candy aisle altogether. A small win is still a win! Just like a small loss is still a loss.

Can't believe the angle of my graph at the minute, to be honest. It seems like an illusion-- like it must belong to someone else on here. But the jeans don't lie!

Happy hump day,

I was the same at the Swimming Pool. All these skinny swimmers and a beached whale! The IF you have chosen is 16:8, same as most people. My wife lost a load of weight doing 12:12 which is not as strict as 16:8. The secret is to eat your meals WITHOUT snacks inbetween. Sweets are no no for me. Pure refined sugar. Try Apple Cider Vinegar tablets and as much fibre in your diet as you can get. Both are known to reduce Insulin levels.

Lifelong dieter here still want chips and chocolate. For me I believe it will never go away. I deal. You're doing great hang in there.

Chips.....*sighs* Yes, that is about my ONLY real weakness. Do you like Dark Chocolate? The Milk Chocolate and White Chocolate=NO NOs. Cadbury=nothing but sugar, hence the craving more and more.

I do like dark chocolate...I ought to pick some up. Maybe I can keep it at WB's house, then I can only have it every once in a while.

Dark Chocolate has health benefits. My husband eats a piece everyday and swears by it. It must be Pure Dark Chocolate. Maybe that will satisfy you?

I can always give it a try, but I might be better off just foregoing it for now. So long as I don't taste it, I can stay strong...hopefully lol.

I am right there with you on the gym - I love to work out alone! I find myself pushing myself far beyond the point I would when I am around others (fear of slinging sweat, maybe??). I use noise blocking headphones and that really helps keep out the chatter of others and allows me to focus.

You are doing great. I have learned a lot the past 3 months and adapted some great new habits. I've found that I'm too much of a sugar addict (it's a REAL thing) to have sweets in the house or to agree to let them "in" as it were. Check out www.brightlineeating.com for a quiz that will tell you have susceptible your brain is to sugar/flour and what you can do to stop the cravings. There's also a (free on line) book called "Never Binge Again" that gives some tips for overcoming those cravings/bingeing moments. I highly recommend it. I, too have been doing some intermittent fasting and finding it a real game changer. It does seem to work best when you can keep the "fed window" pretty small, like 5-6 hour periods where you can eat. Another important thing to remember is that insulin resistance rises starting around 7 pm which means pretty much anything you eat after say 7:30/8 pm gets stored as fat and stops the detoxing of your body and tissues. Check out fasting guru and NASA scientist Ray Cronise (he's the guy that helped Penn Gillette lost 100 lbs in 6 months) on a podcast here: http://www.nomeatathlete.com/radio-113/ In the meantime, keep up the great work. You are in charge and becoming the person you want to be. Thanks for letting me share. I hope you find something of interest.

SO proud of you! Pooh on the skinny women - you are training to be a bad-ass!

Yes, refined carbs are EVIL, and they sing that siren song in your head.."You know you want me" over and over again. I am a carb addict and they just need to be banished. If I eat any the cravings have to be fought all over again. So yep, let them stay at the store.

Turn their keys in at the lost and found! A few times of that and hopefully they will stop.

I like how you think, ehead! Made me laugh XD

If things continue or escalate after that, the gym staff will know you are at least trying to be accommodating.
