Low carb - uhhhh... that's hard

SOoooooo... I was seeing some people post about low carb diets. And I was like, hmmmm what is this all about. So I did some research, and it seems to me that this is exactly what I should be doing. Your body basically turns your (unused) carbs into sugar. I"m in my early 30's and in excellent health (as far as I know). So I look at my past week of meal choices (which all resulted in my calories being under; and for the most part have been healthier choices); and O. M. G. - MY CARBS ARE OUTTA CONTROL. I'm thinking to myself, "self; how are we going to go from 200-300g carbs a day to 20g. This is going to be REALLY hard."

I guess just being AWARE that carb-y food is an issue is a good place to start. Soooo, I will be embarking on a carb-restricted diet for a while. I'll start with 2 weeks, and I honestly don't know that I will be able to get down to 20g of carbs. But I think between being AWARE of the carbs I'm consuming and REALLY TRYING to drop my carbs to under 100g to start will help me to see some changes in my weight and my general well-being.

So it's time for a new adventure.

I'm on day 6 completely soda free! So that's a big WIN for me!

Low carb is a solid diet choice. Like you said it's going to be pretty hard to go cold turkey. What I would suggest doing for the first week or two, is simply avoid carbs, don't feel like its a failure if you have 50 or 60 grams with a meal or two at first. then you can ditch them altogether.

When you do get down to under 20 a day, you'll find the most amazing changes will happen! It's a big change for most folks, for sure. Soda free is an excellent start!

Hey, welcome! I've had a lot of help, and the best best best thing I did was learn and was told about Dr Fung and his video series, The Aetioligy of Obesity. It's a 6 party series JAM PACKED with info, maybe a lot I'd New, but it's all critical. Also, watch "Butter Makes Your Pants Fall Off", Butter a Bob has some great videos if you do continue on LCHF on what to eat, .he even walks you through the grocery store and shows you what to eat and what to avoid. Fun stuff! Good luck! Bottom line, what every works for you😁😁

Take it a day at a time and reduce carbs every day - you will get there!

Actually there are good carbs and bad carbs. Bad carbs come from white foods (bread, rice, potatoes, etc.) and good carbs come from whole grain foods. 200-300 good carbs a day is just about right. The body needs the sugar, but not the added sugars. I am averaging 250 good carbs a day and am doing just fine.

Congrat's... I know I do better on LCHF lifestyle.. I can tell you when I left the room on this lifestyle and went LFHC... I gained almost 50 pounds back. What I did when I made the decision to care again and start living for me. For the first week I cut all sugar out of my life I went back to reading labels etc... Then the second week I went to cutting carbs down. by 50 It took me about 3 weeks to get into the groove again. I started charting and weighing my food and totally restricting my carb intake to 25 Full carbs and under 20 NET carbs. I also decided to get on the scales I weighed in at 233.8 that was January 4.. I am down almost 50 pounds again you can do this.. Best wishes on your Journey
