D1srupta's Journal, 10 July 2016

I've immensely enjoyed this weekend. I am a little saddened that my vacation is already over, but it is for the best. Idle hands and all that :P.

I'm fairly certain that part of the success of my diet thus far is that I am significantly busier than I once was. When I analyze my previous weight gains and losses, the times I tend to gain have always been times that I have been less busy and vice versa. Knowing that I was already hitting a limit with the diet, I can feel myself losing the battle of wills, I decided that it would be best just to take a guilt free break and pair it up with the vacation.

I am sure I've lost a weeks progress with all of the food I've eaten, but I feel satisfied and happy in a way I have not been in quite some time. I'm mentally prepared to start back with the diet and I believe I've worked the cravings out of my system. I ate all of the things that I've been finding myself craving for quite some time but have not been allowed to eat due to the negative effects they would have on a ketogenic diet.

I expect to fast from about 6pm today, I have no plans to eat anything more tonight, until about 10 am tomorrow. I'll eat a snack at 10 AM, a meal at about 1:30, and another meal about 5 PM. I'll repeat that pattern for the rest of the week until I've reasonably adapted back into Ketosis. I expect that I'll start feeling terrible after a couple of days so I don't want to shoot myself in the foot with a 20:4 or 18:6 fast. I'll keep it around 16:8 and adjust as my body responds.

I'm hopeful to see that I make it back into the 220's by my next weigh in next week, but there is a lot of water weight to work off first! Worse case scenario it may take two, but that'll be ok. No celebration the second time around though. Can't use the same milestone twice :P.

LOL! That would indeed be a vicious cycle if you kept celebrating the same milestone each time, the thought occurred to me to do it too, but no. I actually made a little progress. After the milestone I was 197, then I had the 4th weekend where I was a total piggy......back up to 200, 6 days of fasting put me back down to 195, so for two weeks worth of effort, I lost two pounds net. :) I got lucky.

Um, Debra, nothing about fasting for SIX DAYS suggests you got lucky!

LOL Kpw, I could have fasted for 6 days and not lost a thing after the weekend feast! That would have really sucked!

D1srupta, After 118 lbs. you deserved a vacation from the diet. I hope your keto mode reestablishes quickly for you, for the next phase. Good luck!
