Mistybenner's Journal, 27 June 2016

Ok, time to quit smoking. For the past four years I've smoked about a half a pack of camel filters a day. Prior to that I had been an ex smoker for four years prior to that I smoked when I was about 14. Anyway- cold turkey, 25 hours no smoking. I do want to eat a lot though. I don't know if I will finish body beast right now, I just want to focus on this. I quit for 17 days in Jan but gave in. I wanted this year to be, "No Nicotine in 2016." Well, never too late. I keep thinking of that quote Today I want to be the healthiest version of me. Here we go wish me luck. My skin will look so much better right??!! That's probably why I think I need a lift!!

Wishing you all my supportive thoughts and prayers Misty, such a hard thing to do until you find that "switch" that kills it for you...hope this is the one for you!! You've proven to yourself that you can put your mind to a goal and do it...shoot for a month, then two, etc, etc...it does get easier over time, once the nicotine goes away, the lungs come back and the habits fade. Good luck little buddy!! Take care!

I gave up over 20 years ago and the best tip I got - put $5 away in a jar for every time you DON'T purchase a packet of ciggies - then after 1yr treat yourself to something fabulous. It's surprising how much better your feel and how much $ you save!

I just started taking Bupropion (Zyban) again. I've already cut back, and once this stuff is fully in my system, takes about two weeks, I will NOT be buying another pack. I know this stuff helps me. I just let life get me back on old crutches along with the food I was using. Good Luck to you, Misty!

Once the cilia in your lungs start working again, you'll be coughing and spitting thick, pale green stuff. This will last about two weeks. Drink your water. Did you make it through the night?

Did you make it through your morning coffee wthout a ciggy? That is the toughest one of the day (unless you drink alcohol, then THOSE are the toughest ones to avoid.) Also, the after dinner smoke. Murder.

I had to quit coffee for about a week. Just to break the cycle. Coffee never tasted as good after quitting. Ugh...

And the.... And the.... Lady they are all hard. I miss it sometimes but will never go back. Misty, you can do this! The one I miss the most is "the kids are driving me crazy, I have to step outside" cig. It's great your hubby is supporting you by going outside.

I am having coffee now no problems. I just think dang I'm bored let me go smoke. Lol. So just trying to keep busy or just relaxing. I want sugar but know that's a bad idea. I've got a photo of the timeline of what happens after u quit smoking. I look at that a lot. In about five hours, all nicotine will have left my body. And I can check my days since app for a reminder of how long it has been since I've smoked. 🚭💃🏻

Woot! I was in suspense. So happy you are still not smoking!

Boredom and smoking is just a state of mind. Just put a straw or pencil in your mouth. lol I used to smoke in my 20's and also had a girlfriend, who I would smoke with once or twice a day, REMINDS ME, lol that she was the hottest and craziest I'd ever been with, lasted a few months, had to have the police over to get my TV and stuff lol, but haven't had ANY smoke in 20 years.

Lol Carmen! I'm good, I feel accomplished. Been eating way too much but I'll lose it. Should be good tomorrow. Going to take the Amtrak to see my DD,Mother, Sister, Neice, Dad and Aunts tomorrow thru Friday. This evening I got a mani bought some hair color then said nah I'll wait to have salon color my roots. Walked to both places then went to get Claritin walked there too, I'm glad I live about ten mins from most places. Didn't think about camels at all or eating to keep me busy. So tomorrow should be great food day I pray. Have a good night. Will do my 22 soon.

I think getting out of where you are is the best way, cold turkey! Amtrak will help! I'm trying and it's hard but I was smoke free for 7 years after doing Chantix but I've been smoking for 4 months but I want to quit but I need to get out of this house! You can do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
