Trimmer55's Journal, 08 October 2015

Just want to reflect on the last week and the 'regimen' thus far. I've been busy gardening and doing some spinning in the evenings, trying to keep up a standard of exercising.
Unlike the earlier weeks, I have pretty much eliminated alcohol and finding better ways to spend those calories. Also, the weight loss result improved.
I've now experienced that exhilarating feeling of having my pants be too loose and having to dig out older, smaller jeans from my closet. Small victories, but worthy to dwell on.
I am still finding the whole journey enjoyable. I feel like this online accountability (mostly to myself - keeping close records) had been an incredible tool. I think about the times in the past where I would write down everything I ate and the calories and how cumbersome it was to maintain. This website makes all my eating choices and meal planning so easy!
I also have to say that I feel that something clicked in my head to take on this weight correction seriously. Maybe it was a photo my aunt posted from a recent family reunion. I was unrecognizable to myself. I think about that anytime I have a weak moment.
So yesterday we planned a fall foliage tour day with friends. This included a brunch at a famous pancake parlour in the White mountains and a burger stop on the way home. Since I have been taking charge of what I eat, I was not worried about eating out. I have to admit that the pancake parlor proved to be a challenge for me. Breakfast is my favorite meal, any time of day, but I made a plan for a balanced tasting of the offerings. It was more than my usual breakfast, but it was so SO delish. I concentrated on processing this brunch meal (two meals in one). Something different and I think it was OK.
Later, and I was not hungry, but when we stopped for burgers, I switched my beef for chicken. Again employed my tactic to take one big bite and then to disassemble the sandwich - retaining only half of the smaller half of the roll. I ate half the french fries and I was happy.

Fitting into smaller-size clothes is NO 'small' victory -- it's a HUGE NSV (Non-Scale Victory) in these parts!
