Getting back on track this past week and decided to weigh in…pleasantly surprised! I opened the vault a bit throughout August and know I was weighing in heavier (probably 4-8 pounds at times) but I’ve tried not to beat myself up over it. Getting more disciplined again has paid off.

Now for the real victory…this morning a coworker gave me a compliment and, without thinking, I just said “thank you!” This is kind of major for me since I have never really been able to accept a compliment, especially any sort of physical/body compliment. I always deflect, deny, brush it off…not that I completely “feel” it yet, but I have been working on graciously accepting compliments of any kind and today it just….happened…without being intentional. It was only later in the day when I replayed that interaction that I realized how natural it had been. It’s pretty cool to think of the mental successes catching up with the physical.

I have stopped doing regular weigh ins because it was becoming problematic. I still weigh myself a few times a week but I’m trying not to stress as long as I keep within a “window” I have set for myself…113-119lbs. I recognize that my weight can fluctuate by this much even daily so recording daily weigh ins is no longer necessary for me to stay on track, and not recording so often seems better for my mental outlook. Earlier this week, I was up around 119 and now, without getting crazy with my diet, I’m around 116. A couple of weeks ago I flowed between 114 and 117. I’m okay here. I have made some changes that I really needed to make but I’m also not overly restrictive anymore. I know how to eat healthy AND how to enjoy a treat. I exercise as much as I wish to and I have achieved a leanness I’ve never had. I’m in better shape now than ever before as I approach 40. I’m pleased with what I have accomplished.
