I am a 54yo mom of two young teens who are both on the Autism spectrum. I was working as a psychotherapist until about four years ago when I had to close my practice to be able to attend more closely to the kids needs, particularly their school programs.
As an adult I've struggled with my weight off and on over the years. I like to eat healthy foods but my kids are incredibly picky eaters so I have to fix several different meals for dinner. With stress, being busy and tending to kids, pets, the house, and a little older lady with Down's Syndrome and Alzheimer's who lives with us (making up for my lost income), making dinner every night is often too much to deal with.
I love to be outside, biking and hiking and gardening, so I'm more active in the nicer weather. Trying to make it more regular, though, which is a challenge.
I've actually lost 14 pounds since I started being more mindful of my diet, but didn't join this site right away. I'm hoping that having a little more structure, by using this site, will help my motivation.
