Believe it or not I'm actually on the decline. I was freaking out that I'd gained more than 10 lbs as soon as I began weight lifting. But I've gone from a size XL to a L in all of my clothes. My friends keep telling me not to worry but I've got a life of weight loss experience and only two months of weight lifting experience...judging by the scale is a hard habit to break.

So one of my friends who is an ex-lifter let me know that she is certain that I'm not consuming enough protein to compete with my lifting. So, now I am sampling different vegan protein powders. Made banana icecream using the protein powder (frozen banana, coconut milk, protein powder) and it was freaking delicious. This is going to be a fun experiment to see which protein powder I like the best.

Got a pool party to go to next week. And I'm rocking the bikini!

Ah good! The weight is going down. Weight lifting has got me feeling and looking great, but it is nice seeing a drop on the scale. Maybe that initial gain is starting to drop off now.

The other day, I thought my belly was getting fatter, but it's not. My legs are getting smaller at a much faster rate than my ab region. Thus, it looks like weight gain if you are ignoring the full picture.

I'm not yet at the point where you can see muscle if I'm not flexing. But, you can see that my arms are firm.

I can't believe I'm going to say this, but after watching a Buzzfeed video, I am kind of interested in trying P90x. I've never been interested in it before even though I saw tremendous results in a lot of people. I don't know when I'll have the time to give it a try since I already workout 5x weekly.

My 4-mile run was rough this week. I walked a lot of mile 3 and almost all of mile 4. I must report that I felt exhausted Friday-Thursday while working out. This morning it hit me that it might be time for another B-complex supplement, so I swallowed one pre-workout and today felt back to normal.

Well, anyway. Here's to a great weekend! Onward...

Wow this job keeps me super busy. I didn't realize how long it's been since I've posted. I'm still VEGAN!!!

From February to the end of March I had a hard time keeping my eating under control. They offer so many free snacks here, plus it was just easier to eat a bag full of veggie fries and a tub of hummus than to cook proper meals on my new schedule. So there was an initial gain of 3 pounds.

Then in April, I started cooking again. I found that I like Jasmine rice and I started to eat it for dinner almost every day. It took me awhile to realize it, but I started bloating up like crazy. But as soon as I put the rice aside my weight started dropping fast.

Two Saturdays ago I went to the gym with one of my girlfriends and she showed me how to properly weight lift and have fun with it. I'm so excited that she did. I've been to the gym incorporating cardio and weight training for 10 of the past 14 days. My muscles are taking shape for sure and getting big. It's reflected in my weight, but I'm sure that's going to be temporary.

My belly is flattening, my biceps are becoming pronounced, and even my size L compression pants are starting to sag a bit when I run. I can't even wear the XL that I started out with to run, I might end up mooning people.

I also accomplished a big goal. I ran a 5k in less than 30 minutes. It's been six years since I've been able to do that. Hypoglycemia has taken so much from me. But being vegan keeps the blood sugar under control in such a surprising way. Balanced meals means balanced blood sugar means balanced energy means weight loss.

I'm so energetic. I feel like I have my life back. Life is great right now!
