I am a 25 year old computer programmer. Needless to say, I'm overweight and have been gaining slowly since college. I tried a diet and managed to lose a little weight 2 years ago, but had no structure and no support, and ultimately felt I couldn't do it. Large people run on both sides of my family, with my father and younger brother both weighing over 300; I hope to avoid becoming the same.

Can you do Fat Smash if you're Pregnant?
Definitely check with a doctor to be sure. It would be horrible if any lack of a vital nutrient were denied to your newborn because you weren't eating "normally". I do believe that your portions would have to increase at the minimum since you're really feeding 2 people when you're carrying the baby.

Cheese comes back in @ Phase 2 -- here's what the book says about Phase 2 dairy:

2.5 cups of low-fat, skim, or soy milk
1 oz. (about 1.5 slices) of cheese
6 oz. low-fat yogurt 2x/day

How much weight did EVERYONE take off in phase 1???
10 pounds. I'm was fairly overweight to begin with so I'm not that surprised. It will be interesting to see how it all tapers off! Cool
