It's now been about a month since I first purchased the You: On a Diet book. At that time I weighed 165 lbs. I had gotten a phone call from my sister, warning me that she was pre-diabetic and that I should look into it myself. Diabetes runs in my family. As I've gotten older, I've tried to avoid dealing with that fact. Now, at 51 years old, it's time to take back my health and future.
For the past twenty years or so I've feared losing weight. I feared attracting attention (including the attention of my beloved husband) and so I couldn't really see myself at a normal, healthy weight. Now, after reading YOAD, I realize that my body wants to weigh a normal weight. It's time.
Walking every day has been a blessing. My stamina has been increasing. Last weekend my husband and I rode our bikes 25 miles. I never could have done that one year ago. I remember riding just a couple of miles nearly killing me.
