Ahhhh -Miss 11 got a bout of gastro, killer for Diabetics... can't stop her insulin but she couldn't eat so we had a few days in hospital... I so LOVE sleeping in that plastic chair and cold sandwiches with crappy coffee. Ready to roll again. Chin up- all is not lost... even if I lost nothing.

So, I lost 36kgs a couple of years ago and found that forums and accountability were the key to keeping on track. Still figuring out how the site works but thought I'd introduce my situation and see if anyone else out there is on a similar path- or wants to help me with a cyber kick up the arse if I fall off the wagon.
I was 108kgs and turning 44 and just decided enough was enough. So made total life overhaul: did half-marathon, dropped from a size 20 to a 10 and literally was unrecognisable.
And then.... sigh, I had a hysterectomy, and going from 2hrs intensive exercise a day to NOTHING was crippling, mentally and physically. I gained some weight (5kgs or so) and got back to the gym, eventually.
Just when momentum was gathering my youngest child (8yrs) was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes -all encompassing, 5 needles a day, hasn't spent a night away from me, STRESS. FYI- without insulin, a Type 1 Diabetic has about a week to live. In a sleep deprived state (biggest risk is at 3am when blood sugars drop and diabetics slip into coma, then death -so most parents do a 3am finger prick blood test) I tripped down a flight of concrete steps and removed my front teeth, dislocated wrist and tore the meniscus in both knees. A year on, add 40kgs, can't run or even walk for any distance. Totally fed up I am going to try and do this with pilates, weights and swimming.
