Executive Director of a small non-profit organization here in Orange County, CA that provides programs for children, young adults, and adults with multiple disabilities including autism, down syndrome, and seizure disorder. Grew up extremely active as a (roller) speed skater, cheerleader, cardio-kickboxing instructor, and triathlete. As I got older and busier, not only did my metabolism slow, I slowed overall. Unfortunately, while my activity levels were decreasing, my appetite and eating habits significantly increased. I'm just under 5'10, and at one point I tipped the scale just over 200lbs. Not only does the AMA chart indicate that is "obese," I was mortified! I immediately came down to the high 190's, but just couldn't move lower. Primarily, because I had no drive. Just this past February (2021) my cousin shared a pic of himself on social media showing an incredible reduction in waist size. I was immediately intrigued when he introduced me to the FatSecret app. I have been hooked ever since. I now have a goal AND the drive to reach it. Progress is steady, but more importantly, the app is holding me accountable for my portions and my overall habits.

I'm approaching my 1/2 century birthday, and am vowing to get (and remain) healthier. Not only for myself, but for my loved ones as well.

We (all) Got This!!!

Tardy to the Party
Greetings!

I've been using FS for almost a month now. Since this is my first actual forum post, I am obviously still learning how to navigate around everything. The important thing, I quickly learned the basics, that will allow me to hold myself accountable for my calorie intake and burn. I started this journey at 196, though, at one point I tipped at about 201. Standing at 5'10 (on a tall day), that was a significant amount of weight (in my opinion) on my frame. Though AMA indicates that I should be at 169 to not be considered "overweight," I am aiming to hit in the lower 170's; then, I'll add some significant resistance training to tighten up.

I'm looking forward to the journey, and then the FINAL results. From there, I'll enjoy maintenance and remaining healthy, as I hit 1/2 a century old!
