Happy Friday! And I for one, am so thankful that this week is coming to a close. Busy, busy days and it's only going to get busier as the weather dries out and warms up...life at an Equine Veterinarian Clinic is not for the faint-hearted.
Anyway, my weight remains the same, even though I let my sweet tooth get the better of me last night. My plan is to stand firm this weekend, and get in a nice walk with the dogs. Other than that, a pedicure is the only thing that I've got planned. This gal's gonna enjoy a little R&R in preparation for next week. It's my horse's birthday and we're gonna celebrate with some fresh pears and apples. His favorites! Happy Birthday Ladde!! :)
Hope you all have a fabulous weekend.

This morning my weight is at 173.3 - no change even though I overate yesterday...I ate a total of 1807 calories, but the protein, fat, carb ratio was right on. Go me...I don't know what the deal was, but I was SO hungry. Well truth be told, I had a killer sweet tooth going on. And instead of using something from my bag of tricks to avoid the temptation, I ate a fudge bar, and then later a couple of fig newtons. That did the trick, but in the process I went over my max 1600 RDI by 207 calories. Oh well, onward and upward. This morning I'm determined to be back on track. Happy Friday everyone! :)

Well poo...my weekly weigh-in this morning shows that I'm up .3 of a pound after remaining steady at 173 all week long. *sigh* I've gotten more exercise and followed my RDI "reasonably well" according to FS. I've never once in the last several weeks gone over in my daily calorie recommendation, but I'm stuck here for the time being. Never fear! I will prevail! Like my grandma always used to say..."Lord willing and the creek don't rise" - I will continue and be triumphant my friends. May we all be overcomeers and reach our goals for good health and a more slender version of ourselves! Happy Day everybody. :)

Good morning! It's going to be another beautiful, sunshiney day (although cold) here in the Pacific Northwest. I love this kind of weather as it energizes me to get outside and get moving. I'm planning on a lunch break walk with Charlotte (my dog) today at the airport park. If we briskly walk the entire loop, it's a solid 30 minute walk, and with to and from drive times from work, that's all we have time for. However, last weekend the dogs and I took a long and arduous walk up and over the hill, and back. Nothing steep, just steady inclines up, down and then up and down again. I was bushed! I did a fairly decent job of getting my minimum 1/2 gallon of water down, had about a 45 minute couch break while watching an episode of Army Wives on tv, then had to get changed and dressed for dinner out. We went to Outback Steakhouse and I've got to say, I did really well. Chicken breast on the barbie, no skin or bones, tiny amount of their yummy BBQ sauce as a dip on the side, steamed broccoli and a house salad along with unsweetened iced tea. I even brought about a 1/3 of the chicken home which I ate the next morning. All toll calories were about 540. Then for desert at home later that evening, I had one of those Healthy Choice Organic Fudge bars at 100 calories. All weekend, I did fairly well calorie intake-wise. On Sunday, hubby and I stacked about a 1/4 cord of firewood in the shed, then in the afternoon went and picked up another pick-up load, which we'll unload and stack this week sometime. Helped in the barn with the chores, stall cleaning and feeding the horses, then had a nice, long soak in the bath. A light dinner of homemade spinach lasagna and a relaxing evening before heading to bed. A good weekend overall and we're back to the grindstone for another week at work. Rain's supposed to return tomorrow or Thursday, so I'll get outside walking while the weather holds. Hope everyone is doing well...my next weigh-in is coming up on Thursday. **fingers crossed** :)

I've been doing some research about recommended percentages of daily caloric intake for a person who is both a diabetic and has CKD - stage 3. Apparently, I'm hitting closer to the mark than I first thought. The following is the closest I can find to an ideal daily goal:
Protein - 10-15%
Carbohydrates - 40-60%
Fat - 35-40%
Or to make it much simpler, always strive for about half (50%) of my daily calories from complex carbohydrates, limit protein to no more than 15% and healthy fats around 35%.
I got this, right? Oh, and my favorite jeans are too big for me now...
