Need real big motivation
Good luck to you! I am struggling with breathing issues as well. Don't yet have a diagnosis, but losing weight can only help. Donuts are my weakness, as well.

How Often Do you weigh yourself?
Every day first thing in the morning. I got used to the fluctuations and I think it keeps me focused.

Breakfast on the run
I make a crustless spinach and bacon quiche on Sunday and just grab a slice in the morning. Sometimes I warm it up, sometimes not.

Diet Soda's - Do they slow you down?
Everyone's experience is different. I use liquid sacharrine in my coffee, drink an occasional diet soda (one a day or less), and eat diet jello and haven't had any stalls yet. If I do hit a serious stall, I'll jettison the sweeteners to see if it helps, but so far so good.

I have no doubt that some of these chemicals can be harmful, but I'm already too old to die tragically young, so I'm not really concerned.
