Happy Cinco de Mayo! I hope y’all are having a fantabulous day! Since getting sober 3 years ago, I have honestly had a challenge finding “fun”, having fun, or trying to figure out how to have fun on trips not drinking.

The getting sober part was easy. It’s the staying sober & learning how to do life and everything else without booze.

The 96 hr fast has helped me achieve that deeper level of healing and sobriety.

Soooo that brings me to here. I’ve decided to book a trip so my husband and I can renew our vows on our 10th anniversary next month! I’m actually looking forward to doing this without drinking. And that’s huuuuuge!

But I feel like a first time bride and I have to get my shit together & my booty in shape 😂🤣.

Let “Sweating for the Re-Wedding” commence. 29 days to go before I say “I did and I do” all over again!

Plan is: 1. Carni/keto as I feel best with this WOE 2. OMAD 3. 24-48 hr fasts 4. Dry fasts 5. Fasted workouts

Ok it’s going down (hopefully I don’t go down with it 😂🤣🤪).

Fasting Experience:

I am wrapping up a 96 hour fast today. I did this to experience a deeper level of healing and sobriety.

Not gonna lie it was fucking hard. I wasn’t that hungry but I experienced detox symptoms AND a healing crisis that caused extreme fatigue, brain fog, body pain, swelling, nausea, and dizziness.

I was able to experience and confront some deeper layers of addictive behaviors and thoughts because food wasn’t an option to avoid, distract, or numb out.

The deeper healing is needed to remove toxins from years and years of drinking, accumulated stress, trauma, and to hopefully improve the long hauler symptoms I have been experiencing for over a year.

I continued to do daily breathwork, meditation, and gentle movement (slight stretching and shaking).

I drank Mermaid Tears (aka snake juice) religiously throughout. I was feeling so sick on the night of day 2 and day 3 that I drank some bone broth and that helped a lot. Since I didn’t reduce my caffeine intake before the fast 🤷🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️, I drank one cup of Smart Coffee a day. I didn’t want a migraine on top of the other symptoms so I chose the lesser of the evils

Day 4. Today I don’t feel well. My body hurts all over and feels super heavy. I’ve done enough cleansing and my body has definitely been in autophagy. Next fast will be easier.

Moving forward, I’m going carnivore (with an occasional salad or mango) to provide my body with the most nutrient dense foods. Fasting will be a part of my life now but not sure if a 96 hr fast will happen anytime soon 😂.

OMAD works for me most days and that alone will help with metabolic and immune health and autophagy.

So let the adventure into a deeper healing and sobriety state continue!
