Heavy leg day. Ate extra protein today, but the fried chicken my office provided for lunch was probably not the best for me...too many carbs! It may take a while to dial this all in, but I'll keep trying.

Today was better than yesterday. Food was followed well. I went slightly over my calorie level, but today was LEG day anyway. My feeble legs are getting stronger. I have to be careful though, muscle memory can fool me into hurting myself. With my arthritis being so bad and it seems that I'm always recovering from some surgery or another, if I take off too fast, I'll hurt myself again. This time, I MUST TAKE IT SLLOOOWWW! I'm hoping to prepare myself for my knee replacement surgery sometime later either this year or early next year (I've needed one for nearly 30 years now!).
The only really big challenge other than that is getting the right amount of SLEEP!

losing 2.1 lb a week

Started today with no alarm clock! I slept in for 9 hours of much-needed rest. This is my biggest challenge of all (getting enough rest). I know all about exercise and nutrition being important, but the rest part of the equation is the hardest for me. It seems that I get busier the older I get. It's that, or I'm just slower than I used to be and it "seems" like I have more to do :)
My favorite breakfast this morning (egg scramble with artichoke hearts, Sun-dried tomatoes, onions, ham, and cheese accompanied with 3 slices of jalapeno bacon!) then my wife and I took our dachshund on a hike around the lake about 2 hours worth. My knee is killing me, but I'm spent.
Finish the day off with corned beef brisket and cabbage and I'm ready to settle down for some yard work (maybe) budget work and a movie with my sweetie.
