I'm sorry that I haven't been on lately and I have missed out on getting to know you all before now-I just got my internet connection back last week.

I wanted to give you a brief history about me.
I was diagnosed with type II Diabetes on 8-15-06. At that time, I weighed 466 lbs, and had for over 6 years. I had tried many things in the past, none of which seemed to work, and I was very disgusted with myself.
Once I found out about the diabetes, I went to a diabetes education class and learned a few things. For example, I learned the right way to eat for me. I had to watch my carbs, not just the sugar; and I couldn't just quit eating carbs altogether because that doesn't work either. I had tried cutting out fat, sugar, excercising, and nothing seemed to work. I have finally started loosing weight, which I'm thrilled at. I'll be honest, I don't really feel it, but I know I'm losing weight.
The hardest part of losing weight that I have found, is how the weight makes you feel about yourself. What we forget, is that our weight doesn't, or at least shouldn't, define us. Our weight is just a small part of who we are. You have to decide who you want to be and if your going to accept yourself as you are.
Remember, your special no matter how you look, and once you start accepting yourself as you are now; your weight will come off more quickly because there isn't as much stress.
