So, I'm back. I had baby number 5 just over 11 weeks ago. I came out of the hospital below my pre-baby weight. But, with all the business and craziness of a new baby, I just haven't been making great choices. So, here I am, just a smidge above my pre-baby weight again...which I wasn't happy with in the first place! But, oh well...no need to focus on that! This week, I'm trying to drink at least 72 oz of water each day. I'm taking my kids into town tomorrow for doctor's appointments, so we're going to go to the library and grocery store as well. I'm going to get a couple books at the library to research where I want to go from here...I've got to be careful while I'm losing weight since I'm also breastfeeding. I'm also going to pick up a few more healthy (though more prep time involved) type foods at the store while I'm already in town. My husband can't quite be trusted to do it on his way home from work! We live an hour out of town so that's usually how our shopping gets done. I really want to change the way I think, and really how my family thinks about food. We live on a farm and have access to good fresh meats and vegetables, especially this time of year.
But we don't take advantage of it. We do way too many cheese crackers and graham crackers for snacks around here. I'd really like to see all of my kids eating a little better. I don't want any of them to end up where I am! This picture is me right now. I've got quite a way to go!

Well, given the meds I had to take for the sinus infection that ALWAYS make me gain at least 5 pounds, I'd say I did alright. I'm not quite up a full pound, so I'll consider that a small victory for this time around. I'll have to make it up this week!

gaining 0.5 lb a week

Woke up Sunday with terrible pain in my face and ears...immediately knew I had a sinus infection (I've had so many in my life, it's easy to tell). Went to the doctor Monday morning, and according to her, it was the most "impressive" one she had seen in a long time. I actually have bruising and swelling around my eyes. Anyway, she put me on antibiotics, obviously. But also prednisone for a week. I always gain weight every time they put me on it, and usually it's only a 5 day course instead of a week. I don't weigh in until Saturday, but I'm not very optimistic!
To make matters worse, my husband has to go to Hawaii Wednesday for a conference, yes, without me! Lol. He doesn't have to travel very often, so I should be grateful. But, that leaves me, 4 kids aged 6 or younger to care for, and all the farm work (feeding and watering all the chickens, pigs, cattle) that needs to be done every morning and evening. It was too wet to take the hay out to the pasture for the cattle today...he nearly got the tractor stuck trying to get it on the fork. So I'll have to give them hay by hand for the rest of the week. Not a huge deal, usually since we only have 8 head, but still kinda a pain in my big sick butt...haha. I guess the bright side is, I'll be getting extra exercise!
