I was talking with a coworker who had just had his physical and was told he had all sorts of issues. He seems as healthy as a horse, so I decided to have my first physical in 4 years. WOW! After the lab work came back I learned I was diabetic (Type 2), Hypertensive, High Cholesterol and High Triglycerides. So basically at 39 I was ready to have major problems and potentially have a short life.
This was not a good thing for me but it was a wake up call. I found Fatsecret through the G1 Android Market as a calorie counter for my phone. That eventually led me here.
On 2/18/09 I weighed 299 pounds, had an A1C of 13 and blood sugar of 345.
On 3/25/09 I weigh 274 pounds, my A1C is 6 and blood sugar is 129.
So what did I do? I cut the carbs to about 35 net carbs per day and calories from an estimated 3000 per day to around 1600. I wii fit daily and just pay attention to what I am doing.
I feel great! I have noticed a lot of small changes such as I get cold now. I havent been cold, unless I was in a walkin freezer in years. Strange.
So as far as my bio is concerned;
I have always been "big". My lowest adult weight was 180 pounds after 10 weeks of US Navy boot camp. 3 kids, 2 careers and lots of miles covered had led me to being very obese and somewhat lazy. I worked, ate, slept, ate and worked. 60 hours weeks in and out of restaurants every day made my eating habits horrible. I am still in and out of restaurants everyday working 45 hours a week, but paying attention to what I eat and how I exercise. If I can do it, anyone can do it. Want tips, input, ideas or a sympathetic ear, email me.
