27 August 2008

This is my first day on this website, it looks like fun-I hope it will be helpful. I have already lost 16 lbs. and have been doing an intense workout regime for about 2.5 mos. now. I hired a trainer 2.5 mos. ago and she has helped me take my workouts to the next level and beyond. I have only lost 16 lbs. so far but I have gone down several sizes and my body shape and firmness has changed radically. People are complimenting me often now and they swear I have lost more than 16. The compliments are such an encouragement to keep going. The diet I have been following is a forever kind of thing, no actual diet. I read Tosca Reno's The Eat Clean Diet and that is a rough guideline for me. It's all about nutrition, portions, and 6 smaller meals. Typical day...I eat breakfast, (never skip)which is steel cut oats topped w/ fruit and flax seed w/ a little yogurt or a smoothie and my supplements---snack; peanut butter(Low Fat/lo sugar) and celery. lunch; big salad w/ tons of colorful veggies, grilled chicken on toasted ezekial bread. snack; apple w/ low fat cheese. dinner; roasted pork loin w/ broiled tomatoes, zuchini, squash, onions and garlic and a little brown rice. I do one hour workout in a.m.-mon/wed/fri. intense tae bo class--tue, thu, sat. cardio w/ weight training and sun. off (a nice walk w/ dog) I push myself during each workout and enjoy the benefits all day and into the night---I am sleeping soundly now and aches and pains have nearly disappeared. This has been a real journey for me and I feel like my head is finally in the right place to make this happen. I am focused on long term health and strength and disease fighting. I want this to stay a way of living not a goal for a vacation. I used to live in that world and ten years ago I fell out, so its been a tough journey back. I believe in taking care of yourself as gratitude towards God for your very life. I have not been grateful in recent years and I plan on making up for that. There is too much to experience in life not to live it at optimum health---its my choice, and I have made it...finally:)
